About
A compelling narrative about death
You play Messorem, a graveyard reaper. Your job is simple, guide the souls of the dead to eternal rest. After many years of the same job, Messorem starts to wonder if there is more to their life. Messorem stops doing their job and the souls no longer have someone to guide them to rest.
One day a woman named Mallory arrives at the cemetary with her deceased son. In exchange for putting her son's soul to rest Messorem can finally get eternal rest themselves. To put the son to rest however, Messorem must gather his family for the funeral. The only problem is, the family is spread apart and the roads are filled with the frenzied spirits Messorem have neglected. To gather the family, Messorem must travel across the land and put all souls to rest.
Magical combat arenas!
Once combat is initiated, an arena is created from the element used to initiate the fight. Each arena has its own effects that can both affect the player and the enemy!
Messorem's combat utilizes both melee combat and a ranged magic system. Each spell has their own effect and based on a rock, paper, scissors system connected to their own element. Wield nature's magic and choose the correct spell to put the frienzied souls to rest!
Puzzles!
To get an audience with some of the family members, you must complete a puzzle related to their personality. So get your dance shoes on and get ready to impress!
Music by SHINE!

The soon-to-be music phenomenon SHINE provides the music with the «Sounds From The Afterlife - Concept Album For Messorem». The norwegian 8-piece delivers an astounding 65+ minutes of live orchestrated music that paints the world of the game with a magical assortment of sounds, genre-variety and instrumentation.

SHINE brings the action and drama to new levels with the two vocal-tracks «The Final Hour» and «Shimmer». From blistering speed-metal to folky J-pop undertones, the band delivers audible spectacle like no first-time Indie game has ever seen (or in this case heard) before.

Reviews
I really enjoyed this game. Sure it might have some flaws here and there, but the good parts outshine them. The game play is interesting, with some nice challenge. The element system is pretty engaging, especially once you have all three. The story is really good and tackles death, a theme often avoided, really well and tastefully. And the soundtrack is amazing. They popped off. All in all, a solid game, and it's free and only takes 30 minutes out of your time. So if you wan't a short and sweet game with bittersweet story and good action with an absolute banger of a soundtrack for free!? Play it. It's good.
A interesting game from a young development team, would love to see what the team might do in the future either together or in new teams

I like the ending credits music. The game was a decent way to spend 20 minutes.
Supercute and fun game, with a really nice story. I enjoyed it from start to finish. The artwork and music is amazing! Also big plus that there is a pettable dog <3
"Messorem" is a garbage 2D retro pixel top down brawler (the developer pretends this is some kind of RPG, but they also pretend to be a mental health expert, this sheds some light on how such a poor product ended up on Steam). What do you do in the game? 2D top down brawling with a backdrop of a clumsility written fan-fiction about depression and loss from an expert with a PhD in clinical psychology... haha, no, the developer is utterly unqualified to attempt to treat these problems. Trying to address serious issues such as mental and emotional health through the medium of video games is misguided and can be harmful. While it's plausible to suggest the intention was noble, this can do more harm than good. The "developer" here is not a professional in areas of mental health and social problems, and when they use video games to pretend they are, this is not only utterly ineffective, it can be harmful. It's my opinion that it's improper to use video games to address mental health issues. Apart from the harm such hamfisted attempts at addressing social problems can cause, this offers zero benefit to PC gamers. People suffering from health issues or other social problems should seek out professional help rather than going to crap shovelware video games attempting to get attention/fame by exploiting such problems for their own benefit, as is the case here. Treating this as a game, it's about as bad as the developers skill at freelance psychotherapy. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. This is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
Really nice game, enjoyed all the goofy characters. Looking forward to see future games!
