Reviews
Meow-Jong Solitaire is a lighthearted reinterpretation of the classic Mahjong Solitaire formula, replacing traditional tiles with a full assortment of cat-themed artwork and embracing a relaxed, cozy approach to puzzling. Developed and published by EPWH, LLC, the game keeps its ambitions modest but clear: it aims to deliver a soothing, pick-up-and-play experience wrapped in feline charm. From the moment you launch it, the presentation makes its intentions known. The interface is simple and friendly, the music is unobtrusive, and the tile designs feature playful illustrations of cats in various poses and expressions. Everything is built to support a low-stress atmosphere where clearing puzzles feels like a pleasant pastime rather than a competitive challenge. The core gameplay follows the familiar rules of Mahjong Solitaire: boards are built from stacked tiles arranged in layered formations, and your task is to match pairs that are not blocked on both sides or covered from above. Meow-Jong remains faithful to this foundation while adding a few quality-of-life conveniences such as undo options, hints, and full-board reshuffles. These tools make the game extremely accessible, even for players who may not be familiar with Mahjong’s rules. With more than a hundred board layouts to choose from, there is enough content to support short, recurring play sessions. Each board can be completed in just a few minutes, making the game ideal for situations where players want something relaxing without an extended time commitment. The visual presentation is clean and readable, prioritizing clarity over ornamentation. The background art remains subdued so that the cat tiles stand out, and the interface elements are arranged in a way that minimizes clutter. The simplicity works in the game’s favor: it avoids overwhelming the player and ensures that focus remains on the puzzle itself. The cat illustrations add personality without sacrificing readability, and while the animations and effects are basic, they support the game’s casual tone. Many players will appreciate how easy the game is to navigate, how quickly puzzles load, and how smoothly the controls respond. Still, the game’s simplicity comes with some predictable limitations. While the board count is substantial, the fundamental experience remains static throughout. Once you’ve completed a handful of layouts, the novelty begins to fade, as there are no additional modes, difficulty modifiers, or evolving mechanics to deepen the puzzle layer. The generous hint and reshuffle system also means that even the more challenging tile arrangements rarely feel demanding; the game is structured to minimize frustration, but this also reduces the sense of hard-earned accomplishment. Some users report minor issues such as inconsistent achievement tracking or occasional visual quirks, though these do not significantly affect overall play. Despite these shortcomings, Meow-Jong Solitaire succeeds at being exactly what it sets out to be: a cozy, low-pressure puzzle game that favors approachability over complexity. It is especially enjoyable for players who want a calming experience, something to unwind with, or a straightforward diversion between larger, more mentally taxing games. The combination of cat-themed tiles, relaxed pacing, and clean presentation gives it a pleasant charm that will appeal to casual puzzlers, younger players, and anyone fond of feline aesthetics. Ultimately, Meow-Jong Solitaire is a compact and friendly package best suited for people who appreciate gentle puzzle loops and charming, uncluttered design. It may not offer the strategic depth or long-term engagement that puzzle enthusiasts might hope for, but as a simple, comforting way to pass the time, it delivers a wholesome and enjoyable experience. I have always loved Mahjong as a kid & and now I'm living my best life getting achievements over a cat version of it! Any matching pair you get, you'll hear a 'meow' <3
If you're a fan of mahjong this is a game for you. Nothing fancy, but the cats are kind of cute. Great time killer!
An adorable cat themed mahjong game. Music is nice, but the sound effects can get annoying. It meows with every single match. Nice graphics, not over the top great, but not cheesy either. Nice variance of puzzles. Has a hint system. Overall an excellent mahjong game.
I LOVE KITTEHS!!!!
It's Majong. With cats. It meows. I approve. 10/10 Would mowr again.
Meow-Jong is a purr-fectly charming tile-matching puzzle game! With adorable cat-themed tiles and relaxing gameplay, it's easy to get hooked on matching sets amidst delightful animations and soothing sounds. Ideal for quick sessions or deep dives-utterly addictive and stress-relieving!
Нормальный такой Маджонг за свои деньги.
Fun little Mahjong game that's cat themed, it's a little barebones but if you like other inexpensive Mahjong games here on Steam this should give you several hours of good entertainment, puzzle fans should check it out!
I found this during the Steam Summer Sale and figured it would be worth trying for a few bucks. I used to play a lot of mahjong in high school on our old Packard Bell computer and seeing this one made me want to take it up again. The game is adorable and is something fun to play when you are just looking to kill time or have a quick break from studying or work. It is really addicting though, so careful with that! There are 120 boards in total, with the very first one with the classic tile layout and a good variety of unique setups. Simple graphics, catchy music that your cats will probably love, and very cute tile art. In updates or future versions, I'd like to see some options where you can turn off hints, shuffles, etc. (with time ticking down instead of up) for a little more of a challenge. I do like that they grey out the unplayable tiles. I do wish there were more boards and some slightly more challenging ones, but all in all this is probably one of the best value games I've played on Steam so far.
