Reviews
Note this is an Early Access Review: TLDR: The game is a skiing/racing sports-like futuristic, visually appealing, but with chill vibe game. It currently has 19 playable levels and a few other interesting lobby / space features. It is fun and totally worth the money, however, still in early access and subject to changes. Full Review: Max Twist definitely needs some work but the game is quite fun even in it's current state. It's definitely worth the money though. If you like extreme sports games in VR you probably will like this game. I compare the visuals to beat saber in VR, but it plays more like a race. If you enjoy a pretty laid back and entertaining visual/sports game this is a good game for you. It is challenging at points and has a progressive level scale and a full tutorial to help new players getting started. I highly recommend playing through the tutorial at least once and paying special attention to the small text on the forward screen. To say the least I appreciate the efforts put into this game for an indie team, and hope to see more from these guys in the future. Pros: It has some awesome music in game to listen to with the tracks available. The visuals are very fast paced and aesthetically pleasing. The developers seem interested in our opinions and want to keep working to improve and fix the game. Laid back. You can even play from a chair if you're a lazy VR person. Though this might be disadvantage in the game. Unique gameplay. Different from other games in its genre. Cons: Not completely finished. Aka Early access. Achievements do not work yet. No world scores yet. Has some weird bugs on tracks where you might have a controller's haptics continue forever. Some models in game are not fully finished while other are. No multiplayer races or ai races. Not very many play modes or options at the moment. Overall, I like the game and would happily pay the price being asked for it.
*Subject to change, since the game is in early access* Pros: - Fun, fast-paced gameplay - Really good music - Cool aesthetic - Playing it is visually mindblowing - Simple gameplay with a subtle learning curve - Quick levels that are fun to get better and better at - Can play while standing up - Can play while sitting in a chair and pretend you're in a supersonic spaceship - Can play while laying down Cons: - Some of the visuals are a bit rough still - Some of the sfx are a bit rough still - Unlockables are still pretty barebones - Some glitches, but not game-breaking Overall: Fun little game that gets the blood pumping. It's still obviously in the early stages of polish, but it just went into early access, so they're probably going to add more soon. It's got two difficulty modes that are noticeably different and metals to earn for each level. The levels will make you work for it, but the game can be chill and smooth sometimes, too. Great music that really goes with the gameplay, and you can unlock new songs by beating the pro circuit levels. I'd pick this up if you're looking for a fun little thrill seeking game. Bet you can't beat 30,000!
Fast paced and super fun. It's got a subtly deep skill curve that's super fun to master and so satisfying getting a great run. Highly recommend!
Pretty good, I like when it twists
Gotta go fast
Fun little indie game. Pretty easy to get the hang of it, but gets pretty challenging. The later levels get crazy tough, but they're probably the most fun ones. Don't think I've played a VR game this speedy and zoomy. Good music too.
Max Twist is an absolute blast and a must-play for anyone who loves fast-paced, futuristic sports games! The retro arcade vibes are strong with its neon-lit tracks and sci-fi aesthetic, making it a visual treat. The hoverboarding mechanic is smooth and satisfying—it's so fun to twist and weave through obstacles while the beats of the electronic soundtrack keep you energized. I particularly love the variety of tracks—there’s a mix of casual and pro circuits, so you can either chill and enjoy the ride or challenge yourself to beat your own times (or your friends'). And the graphics? Seriously, the retro style with modern upgrades looks amazing—super crisp and immersive. The new slalom runs are also a great touch, offering fresh ways to test your skills. The VR experience is top-notch with intuitive touch controls, and the game supports a wide range of headsets, which is great if you're a VR enthusiast. Plus, with over 40 music tracks, there's never a dull moment. If you're into high-speed racing, extreme sports, or just love a fun, visually-stunning VR experience, Max Twist is definitely worth the ride. It's perfect for anyone looking to add some adrenaline-fueled fun to their VR library!
