Encapsulating the full essence of my rage against this game would be an impossible task of gargantuan proportions.
I myself dabble in game development, so i will attempt to dissect every fragment of how horrible this game is. So let us begin.
First off, this game is presented in a market that is already quite saturated. Learning games, especially of this low quality, are a dime a dozen. The choice to make this game a learning game was a horrible decision by the developers. Also, this game was posted on steam, and to my knowledge it is only on the steam platform. This is one of the worst places to put a learning game like this one. Sure, steam is one of the most popular video game distribution services, but most of it's userbase is not the target audience for this game. Steam caters more to people who do gaming long-term and spend much time and money on this hobby. By definition, this learning game markets towards children.
Secondly, the instructions are broken, unclear, and confusing. You are not prompted to read the instructions to the game, and the guide is hidden behind the "help" button. This contributes to the confusion, as help generally refers to needing help in most cases. Needing help as in having a problem with the game that needs to be fixed. While it is technically the correct word for the guide to be under, it insinuates a different function. This condition makes the player go straight for the "play" button, ensuring confusion. Another problem is the help screen itself. The text is (arguably) confusing, but there is a much larger problem with it. You can't exit this screen. No matter what key you press or where you click, you cannot get back to the menu. In order to continue on with the game, you have to alt-tab out of it, close it, then start up the game again. This is a major design flaw that should have been patched by now, considering this game has been out for 5 years.
For my third point, the difficulty. This game can be classified as a rage game. I'm not joking when i say this. It has been one of the hardest games i have played in my life. There is multiple factors that contribute to this. The first of these is the wall/background texture. The walls and the floor of the game do not contrast well. Unless you look at them and try to see which is wall and which is floor, you will have no idea if there is a wall in front of you. This compounds with the fact that for a lot of the game, you need to be looking for the letter or color you need instead of watching what is in front of your character. These factors do not mix well, and make the game much more difficult. Even without trying to find something and just trying to get to a letter, the game feels like if pacman had thrice the amount of ghosts and you went twice as fast. This game is outrageously difficult and the creator should feel shame for not only making it but also marketing to towards children.
In conclusion, this game sucks ass and a great gift to inflict upon your friends. -10/10 stars, I wish i could have done something better instead of playing this game, like burning plastic, kicking puppies, or committing violence.
