Great game at its core, but the performance issues and some really weird mechanics make it frustrating to play even when you're winning.I don't know what it is about this game, but it feels really different from your typical Arc System Works game. Even when I'm consistently winning in ranked, I still find myself getting frustrated.
Wake-up invincibility feels way too strong. I've spent countless hours learning how to punish players with meaties, but for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason people can still spam buttons on wake-up and get away with it. I think the reason people keep doing it is because they realize just how generous and unclear the invincibility frames are.
For the love of God, please fix the meaties, rolls, and wake-up invincibility. Knockdowns also feel really weird because there barely seem to be any reliable hard knockdown options unless you use a super. And even when you do use a super, half the time you're pushed so far away that you can't maintain any meaningful pressure afterward. The game just feels way too punishing toward players trying to maintain pressure, while giving the defender way too many ways to slip out of bad situations.
Assists are also absurd. The constant assist spam gets irritating incredibly fast. At this point, I feel like if a game has "Marvel" in the title, you should expect one of the most seizure-inducing games you've ever played. It's like they completely forgot to tone down the visual clutter. Half the time there's so much happening on screen that it's difficult to tell what's actually going on.
And then there's the lag. OH MY GOD, THE LAG. I love how they came out after the beta saying they heard the feedback and were going to improve the performance, only for the game to release and basically grab you by the shoulder and say, "Actually... about that, chief."
Will I keep playing the game like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idiot, yes I will b/c Im that dumb as I spent 100 on this game. Just fix the port and improve the wakeup options. Would at least some more moves that have hard knockdowns.
