As for now, the game is unplayable on my PC. Frequent crashes, mods not working, settings changing (all online and cloud services turned off). Why I do not accept that the problem is on my side is the fact, that a) it was working on this very same rig two years ago b) the epic games version works flawlessly.
le jeux est vraiment nice je ne mattendais pas a cela et je suis agréablement surpris je le recommande si tu aime XCOM et univers Marvel tu vas etre comble
I spent a good hour or so just trying to get the game to work (constant flickering, stuttering, poor performance, surprisingly frequent crashes, etc.) only to find the experience to not be even remotely worth the effort. As far as I can tell the game was completely abandoned a few years back, so I'm sure there are plenty of other issues I haven't managed to run into yet. The dialogue is painfully cringey even by Marvel standards, and not one of the characters ever stops yapping. The gameplay is fine, but ultimately nothing to write home about. Maybe it gets better later on, but I'd have a difficult time convincing myself, let alone someone else, that it's worth sticking around long enough to find out.
Wish it was more in the alley of my old and beloved Marvel Ultimate Alliance, still, an interesting title, there was a lot I liked about it and a lot that I disliked, still the good overwhelmed the bad, I'm just a straight sucker for turn-based, it's a dying breed and such a genious and memorable genre if done right. The voiceover of EVERYTHING was dope (Blade your a pus.y in this game). Didn't like the whole Midnight Sun premise, I prefer straight up X-men (most preferable, the whole game could be X-men only based) or even Avenger action (Hunter your kinda geh...) Also wtf where is Nightcralwer, Magneto (biggest sin in this game is lack of him wtf), where is Cyclops, swap Wanda Meh for Jean Grey, also.. Thor on hiatus? Wtf Firaxis. Still if your a maniac of the lore like me, play it!
In my opinion, not adding animation acceleration, and even deliberately disabling the cheat engine or something like that, is overkill. The game itself is good, but there are many other games of a similar scale. If a player decides to speed up the game or cheat to complete the game faster or test something, that's their choice. If the developers are against it, they can always add a god mode. By the way, although I play in English, Russian would be nice too, at least with subtitles. Time is valuable, especially for people who want to play many games and finish at least some of them. Deliberately padding out the playtime of an already long game is not the best design choice.
Literally my first review on Steam: The game is underrated, it's great. Don't let other "reviewers" use this space as a soap box. DRM sucks, we all know that. Review the game on its merits. That's why people read reviews. Otherwise, I can yap about anything on here and give reviews on gas prices.
Truly wish this was a better game. Brilliant card and positioning based gameplay system tacked on to a poorly written narrative and a group of characters with flat dialogue. Menu design could also use some work, it is difficult to navigate between the three different card upgrade and deck building windows. The mandatory open world exploration is truly meaningless. I really tried to become invested in the story and the characters but it is simply not worth it. If you skip through the dialogue and cutscenes there is some brilliant mechanical and systemic design here, but this really feels like a game for absolutely no one.
Being an XCOM, Marvel, and Firaxis fan I was extremely excited for this game. However, after starting, I was almost immediately disappointed. To me, this felt less like a tactical game and more like a Marvel fanboy game. They go hard on throwing you in to the middle of an existing story and really wanting you to get to know and socialize with all the marvel characters. I would have preferred a focus on more of the tactical and strategic aspects of the game instead. It felt like I was playing a Marvel-based visual novel after the first mission ended. Not what I was looking for, but if you really like Marvel you will probably like it.
The gameplay is interesting but the writing... After 5 minutes I was getting annoyed By the end of the game I was skipping entire conversations because I could no longer bear it. Every spoken line is lacking in any kind of depth; they all try to be "funny" quips, but it's an oversaturation that makes them all just plainly annoying.
