Marathon, marathon... I like the game but, sometimes it makes me want to pluck my eyebrow, ball and facial hair from my body one follicle at a time. Anyhow five stars truly great stuff.
игра очень нравится, после введения пве контента есть возможность играть когда ты уставший и не сконцентрирован. очень хочется дальнейшего развития игры!!!
Beautiful design, feels lika an art show
fire gameplay not enough dopamine rush yet tho to make up for dying 90% of the time to good players
This game follows that very familiar Bungie recipe. The lore and backstory of the game is phenomenal, the visual and sound designs are great, and the gunplay is very addicting. But is also has the same problems as their other games. The community is toxic, the game is 10x more fun with friends, there is some amount of FOMO and questionable decisions by Bungie HQ. There has been so much criticism and vitriol surround this game and its mostly been for the wrong reasons. This game was never the 'Bungie Killer' nor was it the reason that Destiny 2 was 'shut down'. Marathon is an extraction shooter that appealed to the Destiny 2 community. So many people bought the game with their own head cannon of what the game should/would be and then got upset when it was exactly that; a PVP extraction shooter. Buying this game was never going to 'save Destiny 2', and the negative reviews based on such an arbitrary reason are unfortunate. This being said I am glad the team is listening and looking more into implementing permanent PVE gameplay. There has been decent communication from the dev team and I hope the game continues to improve and grow. This review is already long enough so boom here's a condensed list of what I can think of: Pros

Night Marsh is an extremely fun map, and the Complex boss is the exact kind of extra POI mechanics that this game deserves more of.
The changes to grenades and bubble shields have been much needed and very impactful.
The priority contracts have been tweaked and are much less brutal/annoying.
The cradle is much quicker to progress than the previous faction milestones.
The characters are HOT.
Cons

The solo experience has been somewhat miserable with it being dominated by camping.
Cryo random queue is extremely hit or miss.
Cryo rng monitors allowing for spawn rushes seem mechanically unintuitive.
Exploits allowing vault breaker keys to be kept has been problematic and needs to be fixed.
Some of the armory trades still need to be tweaked as they are too expensive or are unlocked too late to be of any use.
There are plenty more pros and cons and I'm sure other more well written reviews cover them. Overall I'd recommend Marathon to anyone who likes extraction shooters and hopefully in the future there is more PVE for those interested. 9/10
amazing game just sucks the situation it was put in

While the extraction shooter genre is known for being difficult to play and the skill ceiling being very high, Marathon's variety in not only shells to choose from that give you cool and empowering abilities and contracts that let you focus on objectives you feel comfortable in accomplishing, and because the success of these objectives often is not tied into your ability to extract successfully, you won't feel so bad when your run ends unexpectedly if you were able to accomplish your contract before elimination. It's worth playing. The lore is cool and the gameplay is fun. Those that love high risk high reward stuff will thrive and those who wanna study lore and mysteries can find much to investigate.
It's very good. If System Shock 2 and Call of Pripyat had a messed up multiplayer baby, it would be like this. The atmosphere, aesthetics and gameplay are 10/10. The writing has a deadpan sense of humor that works really well. The playerbase are surprisingly un-toxic (still pretty sweaty). The map designs are elaborate and well thought out. There are a lot of things that could be improved. They still haven't found the right balance for shotguns. Matchmaking sometimes feels pretty broken. The UI needs some serious work done to it (not just bug fixes, but also basics like better menu layout). Some of that might get sorted out in updates. As it stands, it's a good game with room for improvement.
