Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. The player count below is how many people own it, not what they spent.

A great game with the most greedy, despicable company. All they care is to milk the players like cows, development cycle is a joke, servers are a joke - all of this while having all time high revenue records. They love investors, hate their players.
Despite being a gacha game, it has long since lost its way. While I do enjoy it, I miss the old days where you can actually party up with random players at times. But not anymore; the game has become too focused on solo play. An MMO that's been around for over 20 years... has become an online single player game. How sad. Also, it is a pain to launch the game on Steam at times that some just give up entirely. I mean, we get a window that says the game is launching and we have to wait for an administrative popup before we can even play the game. And if the popup takes too long to appear, the window closes and we don't even get to play the game. This sucks and needs to be fixed. Worse still, it can't be bypassed. Trying to will simply prevent the game from starting at all. As if getting the game to run wasn't the worst part of it all. The game has sunk to pay-to-win levels of scummy. It was never this bad when the game first came out. Yes, the microtransactions were quite high and the gachapon is still a moneysink that is never worth it. But all the battle passes, the grind-focused events and everything that pushed players to not interact with other players, on the interactive servers no less, takes all the joy of playing right out of you. I play MMOs so I can interact and play with at least one other person. Maplestory, at present, discourages that. It's bad enough I gotta wait for a popup to show up fast enough just to play the game, but add on all of this and I can't recommend this to anyone. And I fear Maplestory Classic will fall into the same trap and become just like this.

Living Purgatory.
this game is a CIA-driven humiliation ritual for the player (YOU). just play a private server until classic releases and pray to whatever god you trust that nexon doesn't ruin that too
Worst patch. I wait Frieren for month and Nexon nerf the pet rate from 1% -> 0.25%.
I'm a returning player but I am new as my first time playing was 2022 for a few months. Although there's been a lot of improvements there is still some additional QoL updates that could be done to make things easier for people without having to spend so many hours on the game, also why is maintenance so long just to not fix the initial bugs first time around or create new issues? Improve your practices.
not even a shell of its former self
Unplayable on steamdeck
After being enthusiastic to play this game for the first time with my spouse who has nostalgic memories of playing this game in her youth, stay away the controls are horrible and don't allow you to fid it without using 3rd party software to change it for your universal settings which is not a real solution, figuring out where to go or how to adapt to the new systems, this game is terrible i would say do no i repeat do not waste your time on this terrible game. the amount of bugs and broken quests that are supposedly just normal make this the worst use of your time.
"Global" MapleStory solely exists to fund the development of Classic MapleStory. Nexon America does not care about improving the GMS experience, despite Inkwell taking over and pushing the "Go West" narrative. The game has taken 1 step forward and 2-3 steps backwards every major patch, with completely useless community managers and empty communications. Repeated false promises and neglected issues such as the Universal Cash Shop, with our server being the only one without it, alongside ZERO communication as to why. GMS repeatedly spits in the faces of players, having rampant server issues inducing server rollbacks, lost items, and real money spent in-game. Despite introducing a private test server, "minor" maintenances are 6-8 hours with extensions and additional unscheduled maintenances. Even with all this time, the game servers will come up extremely buggy and broken with some players just unable to play. All while having the audacity to bring over the Battle Passes from KMS AND adding their own GMS passes into the game. Content is copy and pasted into our version 6 months behind KMS, with QOL very rarely being fast tracked. With our GMS exclusive content falling flat on expectations and quality. This is only a fraction of the issues plaguing GMS and Nexon America, I love MapleStory and truly think it could be one of the best MMORPGS on the market. However, Nexon simply does not share the same vision nor the passion to properly publish and develop the game.
