Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. The player count below is how many people own it, not what they spent.

Been playing since 2007 and heroic since 2017. Reached 290 with a few bossing mules. Tried to recommend this to a friend and for new players it is horrendous without some form of video or written guide to help new players when starting. On top of the many many and I emphasize.. many passes that is on a F2P progression server. Until nexon stops being greedy, this game is not worth your time and money invested.
This game is being led by probably some of the most incompetent group of people known to humanity.

This game is actual dog sh!t. I think most negative reviews are because of Nexon's greed. The current event has 3 different battle passes, all of which add p2w mechanics to their "non-p2w" heroic servers. The community was outraged, hence the overwhelmingly negative reviews. In response, Nexon added a fourth battle pass. Now would this be enough to consider this game bad? Yes, but I think this game is bad for other reasons as well. The biggest negative would be how progression works, I'll list off many points: - RNG upgrade system - Forced to create countless alts to upgrade your legion level (why force players to play characters they don't want?) - Insane visual clutter during bosses + "unfair" mechanics due to bad timing (no bad luck protection in their boss fight design), making the best way to clear bosses just to outgear them and burst them down quickly. - Event-based gameplay I think out of all the above, the worst is the event-based gameplay. If you're a new/returning player, there's basically no point in playing outside of a burning event. These events will fast track your character to 260+, making playing the game outside of events feel pointless. Not only that, but even the upgrade system is event-specific. Most endgame players will wait for specific events in order to gamble their in-game currency to upgrade their gear. Imagine waiting 3 months for an event then being unlucky, causing you to not have any meaningful increase in power. I returned to the game to play through the "challenger world 3" event in order to quickly upgrade my legion level; by doing so, I was able to complete about 20 different endgame bosses (up to and including ctene). This gave me insight on what endgame is like. Honestly, the gameplay is just bad. It would be one thing if the entire game was just mindless grinding mobs, but forcing you to complete 20 minute boss fights if you want to "push" progression is insane. Before some Nexon apologist comes on and says "oh you're just bad at the game that's why you don't like it", I'll make it clear I very much enjoy difficult games (see my history/play time on soulslikes, or hmu directly and I'll send you the logs of my mythic raiding in wow). The fights in this game are just badly designed, both in length and execution. If maplestory is the only game you play (i.e. you're a lifer here), you might disagree and believe it's the best part this game, in which case I sincerely hope your account gets hacked so you can finally quit this piece of sh!t. The people who unironically defend Nexon are honestly mentally ill and have stockholm syndrome. Overall not fun. Don't come back.
I'm playing this game to avoid any contacts of human beings. I was going to post something diabolical about my country of Canada but I stopped because I read the rules and guidelines.
Great game but terrible owners. Too much greed and the rates are extremely low. All your equipment get destroyed in the early game so it stops your progression in the early game. DO BETTER
The grind is abysmal, Nexon is practically the embodiment of greed. There's not much more that needs to be said. But-- I had several characters above 200, but lots that felt almost impossible to get to even that point. I think my highest level was 234. It felt like I wasted my time even getting there. This was back when the Lara job came out, so I'm not fully up to date. That said it never felt like I would ever reach level cap. Hell I didn't even feel like I'd ever reach 250. I can't recommend enough against playing this game. It's just a total waste of time and money. Nexon should bring back a pre-Big Bang server, as it was, and leave it the ♥♥♥♥ alone forever.
As someone that was spending 50k+ yearly on this game, this game is horrible. - Game is buggy, constantly lags when it boss fights. - Big patches are released riddled with bugs to core features. - Things that were suppose to come are generally delayed months. - Customer support is completely useless. Good luck if something goes wrong. Even if it's on items that are obtained by swiping. I'm going to be cutting back my play time on the game and cutting spend by 99% and only getting things that are worth instead of just handing them my money every single time they introduced a cash grab pass.
HOW THE ♥♥♥♥ DO I SPEND 500 DOLLARS CAD TO NOT EVEN GET ONE LUNA PET SO RIGID NEVER SPEND ON THIS GAME SUCH A SCAM
Used to love this game but let's be real, it hasn't been fun since KPQ was a thing. Thought about maybe trying it again but now they have battlepasses and apparently from what I'm reading there's 3 or 4 of them right now. Nothing says Korean greed quite like current day MS.
A great game with the most greedy, despicable company. All they care is to milk the players like cows, development cycle is a joke, servers are a joke - all of this while having all time high revenue records. They love investors, hate their players.
