Thank you in advance Short Gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSOzTG-gU_Q&feature=youtu.be
French review(English review is at the bottom)

Vue d'ensemble
Conclusion
English review

Overview
Manic is a 2D action game developed by GETA Games where you play as a father who goes hunting (with his rifle and knife) to feed his family. As you can imagine, everything is not going to go as planned. You come back home after your victorious hunt but it's already too late... Your house is burned down and your family murdered. In the midst of the bodies and flames you see the murderers coming out of your house. This is how your adventure to avenge your loved ones begins and you soon realize that the whole village is involved in this mysterious attack...
Gameplay
The game is playable with a joystick or keyboard+mouse: Controller: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2049186557 Keyboard: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2049186464 Here I'm going to talk about the keyboard+mouse only. The keys are not modifiable so you'll have to switch your keyboard to Qwerty to play. The mouse is used to control the crosshairs and the keyboard to move and interact with your environment. You can talk with survivors, pick up/drop a weapon, destroy a chest and of course kill the mysterious group of murderers. On the enemies' side you will have masked men, dogs and more!
Graphics
It's hard to say anything about the graphics when a game is retro oriented, it's not a revolution in terms of design but it's more than enough for this type of game. The overall design and graphic style fits very well with the atmosphere / universe of Manic.
Qualities and flaws
✅Positive points✅ - Simple but very immersive sound environment - Precise gameplay that leaves no room for luck - Very quick to learn and introduced by different tutorials - English simple to understand for non-language enthusiasts - Impeccable writing quality - Free ❌Negative points❌ - Cannot change the control keys - The F key is used to switch from windowed mode to full screen mode (F is usually used to interact with an object). - It's a pity that some scenes are so fast (the discovery of the massacre of your family at the beginning for example).
Conclusion
b]Manic is one of those games we don't talk about enough and it's a shame because it's worth the experience. Its atmosphere and story will please drama lovers while the gameplay will delight those who need to let off steam while having a noble cause to defend!
Actually a nice and small indie title. I like the looks and sound.
Great Game!!! Love the dark feel to it and the story, favourite indie game by far :)
MANIC:
MANIC is a 2D retro pixel top down twin stick shooter with some mild adventure game elements as you walk around, talk to some people and kite waves and waves of zombie/psycho/whatevers to get revenge on them for murdering your family while you were off murdering deer, which is, or was, your daytime job. What fun. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. While there's options to change the resolution for the game, these don't really "work", they just change various aspects of the jaggy pixel asset scaling, but there's no way to get rid of the bad graphics, and there's no other tweaks that might help gamers improve the godawful lazy visuals. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the GameMaker Studio construction kit/toolset. This is a very poor quality toolset favoured by amateur developers as it's cheap and requires little in the way of development skill, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities. Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. GameMaker Studio is often used to make retro pixel shovelware and cash grabs. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The game is completely free. This is noble a gesture that shows dedication to both gamers, and the gaming industry. Nothing speaks more to a developers belief in themselves and their product than making their game available for everyone without remuneration. It's a shame in this case that the implementation is below the minimum standards a dedicated PC game should offer to enthusiasts. There's no "maybe" option in Steam, unfortunately, but I hope to see more work from this developer, perhaps as part of a professional game development company that can make full use of their talents without needing to make budget/quality compromises.
I don't really write reviews for anything I play, but i just wanted to praise this game. I absolutely loved this game, it was a hell of a lot of fun to go through. Not to mention that it had a very interesting little story to go along to. Other than a few minor gripes about clipping and death, I have no real complaints. I will say, however, that I wish you left my little puppo friend alone. All in all, I would love a sequel.
Genuinely fun indie game with great art style not to mention it's free
