cl"MakerKing" is less of a game and more of a "level editor" for the game that this was supposed to be, apparently. As a level editor it's average and can only make garbage 2D retro platformers (a dead and obsolete genre). As a game, it's terrible... it's written by 2 people, it's a clunky mess with bad controls and worse graphics. So, the choice not to hire people who can actually do game development and the choice to use a game engine that's worse than RPG Maker all compound to help us understand why this is deep in development hell and may never be completed. And even if it was, it would have questionable value, if any at all, to PC gamers on Steam (yes, the same platform you can buy GTA:V, Black Myth Wukong and Baldur's Gate 3 on). It's deep in development hell, the developers set out to abuse Early Access by refusing to directly answer the question where they're required to supply a due date... this might make them feel good about failing to commit to gamers, but it is a disservice to gamers... as always, we can see amateur devs putting what they want in front of what's good for gamers. This has been languishing in an incomplete state since it was dumped on Steam 3 years ago with no real noticable improvements or indications the developers have any plan to finish their "game". Despite not being able to finish the game before publishing it, apparently they had all the time in the world to infest this with a mobile app cash shop. Weird how that works, isn't it? The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs to pretend they're mobile phones or Commodore 64s. On pricing and value for gamers, this isn't really free as the game is infested with mobile app store like microtransactions. This is a consumer hostile model that we don't need to see on PC. It's deceptively priced to gouge gamers, and that's a reason in itself to avoid this. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The first thing the developer wants everyone to know is that they are THE MAIN CHARACTER. You, as a gamer, don't matter. We know this because, and try not to laugh, the developer breach of Valve guidelines is a "rebuttal". WTF?? I know, right... this guy is so utterly self absorbed and full of himself he doesn't know that reviews are not written for unethical and dishonest developers who abuse Steam Early Access, but are instead written for you, the gamer, who should be informed about products like this and the self absorbed MAIN CHARACTER who is responsible for this pollution. Reviews are not written for the developer, there is no "argument" to rebut, facts were provided from one gamer to a sea of others. It's absolutely comical, and a damning confession from the "developer" that it never occurred to them that gamers actually exist. It all explains so much, doesn't it? It's all "ME ME ME" with this guy. You don't matter, gamers. They breach Valve guidelines for developers just to complain about a fully accurate and informative review (with facts their ego doesn't like). It's evident from their attitude that they never created this product with gamers in mind. They did so to stroke their own ego. When developers, especially failed ones who would never be able to get a professional job in the industry, put themselves before gamers, we end up with garbage products like this. That explains how this trash ended up on Steam, but it doesn't excuse it. At least we finally got to meet THE MAIN CHARACTER. But it gets worse! The intellectual and moral bankruptcy from the developer, claiming they put a huge amount of effort into baking a cash shop and financial transaction back end into this trashware, except also they never intended anyone to use it because it's just "fluff"... that's pure hog manure and the developer knows it. Such blatant arrogance and dishonesty. Gamers aren't idiots. We know the goal of this project is for the developer to cash in. They didn't see gamers, just dollar signs. The presence of the financial transaction system (despite the shocking dishonesty) proves it. Finally, the developer twists the knife... they admit this is garbage and pretty much abandoned, so their intent is to start another Early Access scam!!!! Gamers, the developer response here should tell you everything you need to know about this product and the shady dev behind it. Avoid at all costs. Nothing in the developers pointless, arrogant and self incriminating breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this game to anyone.

Fun game, however for a while the content updates have been a bit slow to release. I often find myself taking breaks from the game due to being burnt out when trying to make levels and due to the lack of new community levels. At some point my gameplay hours stopped being tracked hence it saying I've played less than an hour but I've definitely played more and would recommend this game to anyone who likes platformer games.
