MAKE IT as an Artist

Little short game about the frustraton, loneliness and depression of the doomed artist. A very specific psychological profile. Cool and powerful in some way. And it's free!!!

Man do I have mixed feelings about this. It prompted a good discussion with my partner as we 'experienced' this game - still feel like there's a missed opportunity to take this further. If 'ready-made sculptures' and the like can be art, not because they are inherently artistic, but because of how they provoke thought and conversation, then sure - this can be too. Have a begrudging 'Yes' for the recommendation.

So, obviously the creator is trying to make a point here...they come out up front and tell you so. But their point is so drowned in self misery that the messages comes off as "life isn't fair...to artists". And that just makes me want to rebut. Yeah, life isn't fair to lots of people. It isn't fair to blue collar workers, children with cancer, homeless people. You want to create this whole mood and seemingly elicit sympathy...but the result comes off so heavy handed I find myself kind of balking at sympathizing. But...I'm also a grumpy old drunk who nit picks everything. Is this experience fun? No. Is the message poignant? Erm...I dunno about that either to be honest. But it IS an example of someone using video games to send a message. And I definitely want to encourage that, regardless of if I personally agree with the statement. The creator obviously put thought and effort into it...and I commend them to their dedication to their art. Do I like it? No. Is it bad? Also no.
