I've been playing Magic in physical from for years. But over the years in my area, since 2020 at lest. Only thing that really gets played is Commander. Witch I enjoy and play as well. But I've been missing 60 card construction formats. So this helps me scratch that itch. I do like that it goes the mobile game route. You can play this game for free and don't have to spend any real money on it to play it. You will just have to grind a bit to grow your card collection. Or you can spend real money to grow your collection faster or get "fancy" things when they are available. Its all your choice and whatever your budget/money situation is. I've had a few friends that wanted to get into MTG play this. It's help them learn the game pretty quickly. Also it got them to want to buy the physical cards and join me at cards shops to play the game with others in my local community. So weather your a experienced player or someone new to Magic the Gathering. Give MTG Arena a chance. its free after all so trying will not hurt anything.
Everytime I play this game, its giiiviiing. "When you play with your older brother, but he always curbstomps you and kicks you in the testicles" vibes. Not very sigma, very ohio farming. Maybe Tornado alley warning?? 🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀 Death be upon, thou who sout to play. You will be banished to the dungeons.

Confusing and overstimulating interface, especially for deckbuilding. I was hoping to use this app to playtest Commander, but to do so, I would have to design my deck using a third-party program like Moxfield, and good luck remembering all the cards you randomly pulled. I realize that wildcards are a thing, but honestly, the whole menu system is so clunky I see no reason to even bother. At that point you may as well stick with paper Magic. It's not like casual decks are that expensive. Earning in-game currency to buy boosters is an outright slog. On top of that, like all battle pass systems, the Mastery Pass is designed to induce maximum FOMO, with unspent orbs automatically disappearing if you don't use them. Considering this game would only be worth playing once or twice a month in the best case, that last part is especially annoying to me. I'm a working adult with better things to do than vidya, frankly, so when I do sit down to play, I'd rather it be something straightforward and fun. This is obviously neither. The gameplay may be flashy, but it's also tepid and unsportsmanlike; opponents frequently go AFK or scoop right before you win. I realize this is a problem with the Internet in general, but again, I can't see the appeal over paper Magic. At least with Master Duel you have the excuse that no one plays Yugioh in real life outside of big cities. If anything, the paltry quest system in Arena encourages players who are losing to quit mid-game provided they've already received their few rewards for the day. This is just a stupid cash grab for people too antisocial to play Magic in real life—which is saying something if you've ever met (and smelled) your local game store attendees.
I wouldn't recommend this game at all. I am a MTG player from the late 90s card game era. I played the older pc game version of this game. I then tried this version of the game, Wizards has gone through far too much change. MTG arena is not fun, its simply a money theft game for the company, its a waste of time. matches are not fun, I have far too many negative to list here, and sorry if there are people who may wish they were listed here, but they wont be. It is what it is. This game is "free" to add to your library, so they cant charge prices they charge for actual real card, feel free to be a sucker and waste your money if you wish. This company is dead to me.
