Quite boring and poor graphics, weird UI too that is not intuitive. I feel like this would have been so awesome when I was 10 on my mums computer but not now.
its old but i enjoy it
I keep getting connection terminated because I'm being targetted by a nexon employee (or employees) WHAT NEXON ACCOUNT IS MY STEAM ACCOUNT LINKED TO?!
I've played this game since 2016-ish and though I took a few breaks, I can't help but come back to the game. My hours in the game far surpass the 33 listed here since I used to go directly through the developer's launcher. It's full of nostalgia and while some mechanics are clunky or old, it reminds me of the charm that attracted me to the game in the first place. I'm not really into the "grindset" that a lot of long time players may boast of, and managed to get to level 10,000 almost solely by playing music in various town squares. While initially irked by the way recent updates streamlined getting to 20k, I understand it's so that newer players don't feel as overwhelmed trying to catch up to recent content updates. The dungeon revamp is interesting, and could use a short extra tutorial to explain gear rarities and levels, but overall doesn't seem like a bad system. I could go on for hours about this game, just ask my boyfriend who has witnessed this on multiple occasions, but reading about my experience won't come anywhere close to rivaling your first steps into the world of Erinn. P.S. If this post got you to play, what have you made with your fantasy life?
The game at current state is very confusing, but its understandable and not same time, Developers been implementing and changing the game for 15years but they always forgot to clean up, i done pretty 70% of the tutorial book and there was times that it was extremely confusing to complete a certain quest cause the game forgets to hint u up what to do or where can you find this item, if wasnt for years of collected information through wiki i would be lost, now i can understand why the game barely sees any new player, isnt that the game doesnt have potencial is simply stacks over stacks without organizing that led this game into a mess, thankfully they making a remake that should come out soon, when it comes out i will give it another try but until then im not progressing cause i played for 11hours straight and felt like i had done nothing the entire time, felt in no situation like i was progressing.
NO
Okay. So... Considering I've played this game ever since it's release back when dinosaurs still roamed the earth (I only very recently started using the Steam version so my hours do not reflect even 1% of my playtime) I probably owe this game a Positive Review here. This is my forever MMO. It is very unique, and nothing else is quite like it. So I am bias. That said: It really shows it's age in a lot of bad ways. Ancient systems that are still in the game like the Intermediate Magic pages still being in the game layer underneath newer ones that do the exact same thing can confuse matters, and needing to set up macros just to use the F-keys because those are NOT unbindable from some features REALLY shows off it's archaic systems of old that modern games have rightfully dropped forever ago. The "feel" of the game's early days, the same feel that made so many fall in love with the game, is unfortunately mostly absent due to their attempts to rework and fast track what once was the early & mid game. I'm sure you'll find plenty of veterans that really miss and lament this and can point to specific updates like New Rise, but I won't bother being that detailed here. Because, I think there is still much to like. That old feel and unique sense that Mabinogi gives, while dulled, is STILL here in a diminished fashion. It simply cannot be scrubbed out of it's DNA, and shows in the designs of the NPC, the music, and yes those old systems that made Mabinogi a true 'Fantasy life'. The late game that they want to rush you towards has it's own problems, but I still find fun enough to keep coming back. I like the stories, especially the later generations, and the gradual accumulation of power via literally living multiple lives is still cool to me. These existed back then too. I remember when being a Master in anything with like 30+ rebirths made you extremely strong. Now, it's much simpler, but STILL fun. Also... We are approaching a point of no return for this MMO. The Eternity Project, something we're now confirmed will be next year. After that happens, this incredibly old MMO with it's super weird and old engine will be gone forever. So in a way... It's your last chance to get in before everything changes forever. You're last chance to see what it was like for the first 20 years of it's long and storied lifespan. So yeah. I love this game, warts and all. It'll always have a place in my heart. Through all the complaints and cries, it comes from a community that cares and logs in anyway. You should join us. Get in before Eternity hits, and you can be part of this crazy ride we're all about to go on.
