Centuries ago, a primal magic surged from the earth's depths, fueling empires but twisting it's inhabitant and the world into corruption's grasp. Forests blackened, skies bled shadow, and rivers turned to poison.
But a less prevalent radiant energy was also born, and hidden within pure warriors, the Luminaries. Armed with the light, their goal is to reclaim the land, hurling back the blight.
Yet the Luminary's gift is double-edged, immortality that tempts the soul. Every 80 years, Luminaries must yield their light to a successor, or risk eternal decay. Defiant ones hoard it, swelling into godlike tyrants of darkness, the Ebonarchs
As a new Luminary, rise in power. Shatter the Ebonarch's abyssal power source to strip their immortality, and strike them down. Together with your fellow Luminaries, push back the Darkness with Light.

Very enjoyable experience, its very early in the games life but im excited for the future.
Honestly if you are looking for a souls-like combat adventure, this game isn't going to fill that niche. What it does fill is the "cozy rpg" game. The world is beautiful, the music is extremely relaxing, and the combat is simple enough to pick up in a short period (and the bow play is pretty satisfying). I've been running around for over 4 hours just looking for chests to open and goblins to shoot (and gnomes to smash. Its *personal*). Honestly this game's early access launch reminds me a lot of Enshrouded's where the world was really open and there didn't seem to be a lot to do, but you enjoyed running around and exploring, fighting enemies and opening chests. I see a lot of potential for this game and I'm really looking forward to its further development.

So far its simple, but the plans for it are BIG. I figure I would help the two devs out buy purchasing it. I would like to see a booba slider but even without, females are pretty ample and they are still adding things as we go.
Not bad for 2 people team! The game is good. Need content underwater, its empty there. The only thing i dont like is the enemy projectiles chasing me when trying to avoid them. Like i have a magnet and pulling them. Home city is empty as well, even after clearing it. Needs some NPCs to walk, vendors to talk, some animal background noices to feel alive. It is quiet like a graveyard. I can not wait to see the rest of the progress you working on. Thank you!
Luminary is like if dark souls and the original GAUNTLET had a baby. The best way to describe it is smooth. It feels great, on max settings, which is rare to say about most games nowadays. The world is gorgeous, and the vision the devs have is beautiful. It's still in the early stages with SO MUCH more to come, which I am sure everyone is excited for. I would definitely suggest buying this game, and playing it with your friends. It's wonderful <3
This game is awesome and I cant wait to see what y'all have instore for future content. I have no complaints just high hopes.
Is the game perfect? No. Are the bugs and other issues. Yes Does the developer plan to address the problems within the game and make more content. Hell Yes!! It's fun little game most of the content found within the game can be knocked out in about 4 hours or less. Even after finding all the trees, cleansing the towers and purifying the castles there's still gnomes and chests to find. You can also make new characters, explore with friends, and try the content on hard difficulties. It's Day 1 be patient.
I want to start this by saying I was sent this game to play it I did not purchase it myself. That being said I don't think the game has enough content to warrant the current asking price. I was able to do all the main stuff in about 4 hours, was there more I could do? Yeah, but it was mostly collectible hunting or clearing out enemy camps which didn't feel super important for me to do. Overall, this is solid groundwork for what eventually could be a GREAT game but as it currently stands it has VERY limited content. If you don't mind finishing all it has to offer in one or two sittings then buy into the game now but I feel like most people might not like that for the $20 price tag. You will finish it even sooner if you play the game in co-op, I played it solo. There were some other cons like lack of enemy variety BUT I think the combat and exploration were pretty solid! I also didn't really run into any bugs or performance issues so that's a plus! This one is worth keeping your eye on in the next year or so to see what it becomes! All the devs really need to do here is add more content and I think this will become something great! My playthrough below - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPFGh63qp-o
I have been eyeballing this game for sometime and even played the demo and I absolutely enjoy it. It’s a game that I can jump in and just relax, slow down and enjoy myself. It’s really cool seeing such a vast world built by a team of two (if I’m not mistaken). I can zone in and let my brain zone out and not have to depend on anyone or anything. Yes, there are things that need work. But I’d rather throw my money and time to small games that need work than triple A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that doesn’t care about the player base and just recycles crap over and over. Keep it up!
As you can see I have a little under 2 hours in the game, so take my review as an early impressions review at the least. For anyone that doesn't follow this team on Twitter, or aren't in their Discord, you may not be privy to some of the details regarding this game. First it's two guys making the game. Second, this is the Alpha stage of the game. I have played the demo, and I was involved in the playtest. Buying the game now is primarily a show of support, and if you don't want to put your money up, it's completely understandable. However, there are factors that I enjoyed that led me to supporting them. Refractive is extremely vocal online and in their discord. If you have questions, they will answer them honestly and transparently almost immediately. I like that a lot. They understand their limitations, but are clear on what you should expect from them. They take player feedback to heart, and address and fix issues as they have arisen. This is not a finished product. This is in the early stages of development, and it is clear from the start. The game still needs work, and it shows, however, what is here at the moment is promising. At the moment there is no clear quest direction. It's more exploration, co-op implementation, and various other game mechanics. It gives Two World vibes in my opinion. There will be more floral and fauna throughout the land as well as more hidden areas and mobs to fight. As I understand it there will be more variety of enemies moving forward as well. I will return to give a full review once the game officially drops. I just wanted to put my voice out here to hopefully help people understand what this is. It isn't often that a dev team is sitting right next to their customer base building something alongside them, taking in criticism, bug reports, advice, and other suggestions in real time. I give them a lot of credit and will remain here until the product is finished. To conclude, I think this game is going to be alright and worth the $16 clams ($20 at full release) and I am good with taking a chance on Refractive Entertainment.
