Lucky Tlhalerwa - IMS Death Squad is yet another horribly bad game riddled with bugs and issues someone just slapped together and threw it on Steam and it's more than likely an asset flip (don't care anymore to look them up). The worst part of all this is that they have the gull to say the game will be $14.99 in this announcemnt (that was changed assuming that they saw my review and now changed it to $2.99 in the same announcement after a month), (it's not even worth adding to one's account for FREE) and the game is not even in Steam's early access, so don't expect anything to be fixed or even added (even tho a lot needs to happen and hoping it will...)
Lucky Tlhalerwa's IMS Death Squad is a military-themed FPS that's clearly a one person project by a relatively inexperienced developer. I can tell that effort went into it's creation but the end result just isn't any good. In a market overly saturated with FPS titles, effort is woefully insufficient for a buy-to-play title. Even as a free-to-play title, Lucky comes up quite a bit short with this release. IMS Death squad has passable visuals and sound effects for a random hobbyist FPS on GameJolt or Itch.io. Turn the settings down, and it turns into a Magic Eye painting, though. Turning to Ultra doesn't seem to do anything of note except tank performance. The maps aren't terribly designed when looked at outside of specific objects or enemy placement, but when coupled with the laser-focused AI at times, and completely lackadaisical AI at other times, it turns into a frustrating mess. Walked into a room? Be prepared to be shot at from the dark from a potentially glitched enemy. This game is bug-ridden. I spent a significant portion of the game crawling around on my back because my character wouldn't stand up; he's just flip around and end up on his back again. It was fine, though. I could still shoot as if I were standing up. Blood from enemies seems to be related to some sort of field effect that's stationary, so if the corpse moves, the blood stays. A few enemies disappeared and didn't regain their skin until post-death. It's comical, but if this was intended to be a serious FPS title, it definitely cheapens the experience. As a free title, you'll get some laughs and maybe even have 3 cents worth of legitimate fun. However, it's already noted that this game will be $14.99 in a month. I wouldn't recommend it for $1.49, let alone $14.99. It needs numerous bug fixes, an overhaul of the AI system, and more just to be a competent, slightly below average FPS title. Better luck next time. There's some base amount of game development talent on display here and numerous areas of weakness.
Lucky Tlhalerwa - IMS Death Squad is questionable. I really want to like this game, as it seems to have had a lot of effort put into it and made obvious by the game's state it is a developer new to the industry. Unfortunately, the amount of effort put in has made an extremely complicated, clunky game which has premise if the basics were covered correctly and not had so much content and different ideas shoved into - what feels like a rushed game. From the beginning, you open the game up to the main menu - full of spelling mistakes, unpolished and text everywhere. Starting the game you have 3 difficulty options, which are narrated - then the option to choose a instant death mode (similar to Minecraft's hardcore mode) which is offered to ALL difficulties. Heading into the game, you are thrown into a blank green screen and an insane amount of text, all non-narrated, non-skippable and even if you wanted to read the text (story) it is progressed through too fast to read. Very basic UI. Objects floating where they should not be. You then spawn in a seeming large area, with a few missing textures on certain objects. Tutorials instructions are provided at certain "checkpoints". Each tutorial is timed by 3 seconds, in these 3 seconds you are unable to skip it. You are required to confirm each "tutorial" pop-up, which then provides you with another odd pop-up screen with an empty notepad which you ALSO need to confirm. If that was not time-consuming and repetitive enough, if you are in the same area (mainly occurred on jump tutorial) you may encounter a glitch where the tutorial pops up in and endless loop and you are unable to close it or progress further (having to restart the game fixed this). You also end up shooting your gun every time you confirm the popups, which wastes your ammo. Tutorial also consistently repeats itself throughout the game. Multiple times telling you which key to jump and multiple times telling you which key to pick up items (which makes what is previously said more frustrating). Progressing through the game cleared up the fact the game has not been properly tested and polished. Jump movement is extremely clunky. You are unable to move for a couple seconds after each jump. Weapons were unable to be swapped using mouse wheel (which tutorial stated) - instead you have to open up a UI for weapons using TAB (which is extremely long and an extreme inconvenience during combat). The button to crouch, was also the button to lie down on stomach and also lie down on back, circulating through these proved to be extremely difficult. You are also unable to stand back into the original position unless you sprint (need to have separate keys for this), although when on your back or stomach sprinting actually increase your speed (strangely enough) and need to cycle back to crouch to then sprint to then get back to original position. Story was somewhat there but needs to be culled and made a lot more simpler. Difficult to follow along and read. Many spelling and grammar errors (need to be proofread by translators - which can be available at no cost through forums, etc.). No narration through entire game (except on certain popups). As for combat, your crosshair is INSANELY big, like I mean a 50c coin big. The RND gun sound effects sound like pebbles are being dropped onto the floor. Guns have no animation, reloading has no animation so you have no clue what is going on. No animation for medkit (when healing yourself). That is not the worst of it though. When in combat you are UNABLE TO SEE ANYTHING. You are in a third person perspective (slightly off centre), enemies are covered in gun smoke which makes them almost IMPOSSIBLE to see them, let alone where on earth you are being shot from. Enemy models turn red upon shooting them, although I am never unsure when they are actually dead as models do not always fall to the ground and once you are next to or behind the AI they forget you exist and stop shooting. The screen gets covered in blood (damage indicator) which makes it near impossible to have any clue what is going on. There is also an option to dodge an enemy attack although there is no animation so you do not know if you have even dodged or not. Overall, the game is too complicated and has way too much going on. I can kind of see where the developer was trying to go with this game, although sometimes you need to keep it simple, focus on the basics and ensure it is polished. I did like some of the models, the player movement animations were quite interesting (having your arms interact with surrounding object heights) - but that is not enough to make this game good. I am writing this review not to have a go, but to provide feedback in certain aspects to try and either attempt to fix this game or for future games the developer may decide to create. Keep it simple, you do not need non-skippable animations for opening each door with a key. Hopefully the feedback is taken into consideration and the game improved. I can NOT RECOMMEND it for a price. Please have a few select people test the game and provide feedback before release. This should be in Early Access, if even that.
Ok, not my usual review. I'll try to be brief.
Don't get it even for free. I'm deleting this awful crap from my library.
I was curious to see if the game was as bad as it looked and as reviews said. Well, it was. I've only played enough to get to the first couple of enemy groups. The enemies don't even rotate to face you, the firing animations and sounds are confusing and seemingly they have nothing to do with the actual action. Probably the worst shooting I've played in a TPS. And F to interact with everything? Pick, use, jump over obstacle, hold for this, F for almost everything. Crouch positions and mechanics are real silly and I had to discover how to get out of it... Jumping. Before that? The "story-telling" in low-res fonts over a green background with some bad graphics, and some radio-chat in RPGMaker-grade green-boxes. Menues are bland with silly and bad transitions and nothing like UE4 engine can do. Same about the game graphics, I've seen asset flips with better graphics. The "tutorial" is bad and presented in a most annoying way. The dev has lowered the intended price twice since announced it would stop being free, but I'd need to be paid to play something like this. Seriously. Deleting from library.
it was a neat attempt, i like the minimal number of controls, it was terrible playing i couldnt take it any longer
the game is not good

Perfect in every way
Before I played Lucky Tlhalerwa - IMS Death Squad, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
