"love Red" is a garbage Adobe Flash browser game, a simple arcade "beat 'em up" from China. Now you might be asking why anyone would ethically try charging real world cash money for a crap Adobe Flash game, and we can thank Steam Direct for that. Obviously nobody should be paying money for Flash games, so this exists on Steam purely as a scam. As a game, this is obviously garbage... it's a Flash game that may be the worst ripoff of Double Dragon ever made. It's awful to play and defective from every single angle. But this was never intended to be a game for gamers, it's another shovelware Steam Direct cash grab, what Valve calls a "fake game". Apart from being ultra simple, short, and made with Adobe Flash (even lazier than a Unity asset flip!), the Chinese "developer" behind this garbage keeps dumping copy + pastes of this Flash game onto Steam, with minor reskins and name changes: Black Emperor Dragon and Phoenix fight wisdom Golden war spirit Love Battle Spirit love Red Monkey King vs Transformers There's no reason for seven reskins of exactly the same game to be dumped on Steam apart from running a cash grab/scam. These "fake games" are completely harmful to everyone. They pollute the Steam store. They make it hard for genuine, honest developers to find an audience for their games, because they have to compete with the pollution to get visibility. It makes it harder for us gamers to find hidden gems and sincerely made games. And it gives amateur developers an even worse name. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The artwork here is terrible, it's all just amateurish "My First Wacom Tablet" style drawings used instead professional looking game assets. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget to arrange someone who can create graphical assets properly, or lack of talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low, enough on its own to deter gamers. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. Comically, the game was written in Adobe Flash/AIR (I'm not making this up). Talk about not using the right tools for the job. Might as well try to bake a cake with a screwdriver. The extremely poor choice of game engine here is a major contributing factor to the defects with the game. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the game all-time peak player count was only ONE player. That's right, only one person ever played this at a time. When I played this for the purposes of reviewing it, I equalled the peak player count for the game. OUCH. The only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 130,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 130,000+ games on Steam? "love Red" is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 14,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.
