"Longsword - Tabletop Tactics" is an abandoned Early Access turn based strategy game from 8 years ago. It was by and large a failure at launch so the developer didn't bother investing any more time in it... once more Early Access allowed a developer to get paid for not making a game. And of course, nobody got their money back, the developer kept it all and ran for the hills. The developers abandoned this 6 years and 4 months ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. There's no initial download price, but the developer was delusionally charging $30 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. Even after that, this still isn't really free as you're expected to pay up more money (another 30 bucks!!!!) to unlock content/DLC so you can keep playing. This is some nasty, predatory pricing and PC gamers don't like it. And how weird is it the developer didn't have time to finish their $30 game but had all the time in the world to make a $30 DLC package. Valve should not allow Early Access games to have DLC at all. You can see from this example that developers abuse it the first opportunity they get... there's no way a developer with DLC on an Early Access product is acting in good faith. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at just a dozen or so concurrent players, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
No updates for 3 years. Pretty sure it's dead lol. Seems pretty buggy and unfinished too. The tutorial doesn't really feel like it's explaining all that much. Stopped being able to view the list of my owned cards for no raisin. That's when I gave up. You can see from my play time how long it took to get to that point. It's a shame. I quite like the concept. It's free though, so you might as well give it a go.
Looks great but this still needs a lot of work. This one's not recommended as it seems like this was abandoned quite some time ago and is never going to be finished. Shouldn't be for sale any longer if that's the case. Hopefully the developer will pick this back up and finish what they started because the foundation is fairly solid. I love the way the figures and maps look.
I just tried a quick match with the Necromancer. It was fun!
game is dead. as it was 3 years ago.
i saw someone say the tutorial was hard, and while downloading the free version i saw all the stuff about the dev and game, and wanted to see... god they are all right, this was pain and the dev just deciding to abandon every game they make is bs, why make games and then leave them unfinished? thats dumb
