I was trying not to judge a book by its cover, and I am glad I did. Overall this game obviously isn't your high end JRPG, but what it is is a simple, fun, and surprisingly catchy game that is an excellent one to pick up if you are looking for an easy to enjoy game. There is plenty to collect and explore, trying new thing as new times, choosing how you push forward, and more. Early in the game you may find yourself stuck killing slimes, but once you get the general feel of the game down you can really start making some quick progress. I certainly believe there is scope to change some things for improvements ie difficulty scaling, and plenty of other QoL updates, but in the end I still recommend this to anyone looking for something simple and new.
Absolutely loved this. Down below I write why I found it so special. Otherwise, I recommend it a lot: really fun, challenging, and has a great story. By far the two gameplay aspects that stood out the most are the combat, which requires planning at all times (you can easily get cooked by a gang of amoebas if you don't think ahead), and the time mechanic which completely changes the dynamic, pacing, and player's perception by changing essentially nothing in the game. [Mild spoilers below] But what I loved the most is that, at its core, there's something really moving about selflesness and the selfish nature of sacrifice. Near the end of the game, ready to face the final boss and eager to do it as early as possible to prevent it from growing stronger, I stumble upon a kid who lost his cats and needs me to find them. I give it a try but, after finding a couple, end up giving up because it's a really time consuming task. The clock is ticking and the final boss only becomes tougher with every passing day. So finally, I move on to finish the game and get the bad ending. The cats didn't have anything to do with that outcome and had everything to do. In the end the combination of story and mechanics manages to communicate really well a reflection on how real heroism comes from finding space for small acts of kindness, having the strength to be there for others, and fundamentally having the will to live, especially in the face of a greater threat. Had I explored and engaged with the world a bit more instead of fixating on completing the objective at all costs, even if that meant the creature would've grown stronger, things might've gone a different way.
Very cool game so far, the combat is simple but still very fun to do and to figure out the optimal way to deal with groups of enemies. Also the skill tree is realy nice to mess arround, since you can change what skills you have selected at any time (outside combat) you can freely check out any ability without getting stuck with it if you dont like it later.
A *VERY* cool CRPG/JRPG hybrid! I see myself pouring quite a few hours into this as the game allows us that due to having the option of moving quickly or taking our time (story-related reasons.) Really clever and slick RPG, has some awesome ideas that I haven't seen done before and some advanced type of systems that the graphics may not show at first glance. Definitely recommended, great works guys, and thanks for the great RPG!
Excelente.
