This is a bit weaker than the first game, but it's still consistently charming and occasionally powerful. But I miss the time travel. These games suffer a lot from dialogue choices don't match what the characters end up saying, and the time travel made up for that a lot. Without it, the big choices sometimes become frustrating and unpredictable. The gimmick this time around is an argument system, but you can skip it, and sometimes it seems more sensible to do so - I think I might only have done half of them. But I still generally dug it. A big part of that is that it keeps the first game's philosophy of making nearly every character more complex than they at first appear; the jock Drew was the standout for me here. And when the choices work, they hit really hard. The choices which make the most difference are dramatic, and even some which don't are funny or have heartwrenching implications. That sometimes makes this awkward as a prequel - you get so many opportunities to be agreeable or play it safe, and it does weird things to Chloe's personality - but it's still nice to play through. I also found the story here especially on-the-nose, especially when it gets into overwrought symbolism. But this is still affecting and funny a lot of the time, and though the supernatural element is mostly absent this time, the twists this takes are still pretty wild.

Очень неплохое длс , особенно финал. Крутые отношения с Рейчел, показали как драму,которая точно понравится фанатам. Жаль что доп эпизод платный- про хлою и макс и их детство. И минус вайб за то что не показали как нейтан и учитеь похитили Рейчел и ее убили..........

I don't know if it's because I played the original LiS a long time ago at this point, or maybe because I wasn't at the age where I feel like I can soak in media at a deeper level as I can now that I'm older, but I liked this even more than LiS. No spoilers here, but with the added mystery of 'this character is mentioned in LiS, let's see why they mattered so much' and then giving me hard evidence why this character left such a large impact... I get it now. And my god, was realising that a major gut punch. Sure, some dialogue is a bit cringe. Sure, the VAs were changed for union reasons and don't sound exactly the same. But the absolute amazing chemistry between Chloe and Rachel felt so real and also so tragic. And when I get to see that chemisty and beauty at its absolute height, I get the rug pulled out from under me. I'm upset AND angry about it. But that's a good thing to feel. I think I'm due for a LiS replay after all these years. GO LESBIANS!!!!!!!! GO CHLOE X RACHEL!!!!!!!!!!

Life is Strange fait partie des meilleurs jeux narratifs auxquels j’ai joué. Before the Storm en explore les prémices avec une approche beaucoup plus intime, centrée sur Chloe (et sur Rachel, par extension). Le jeu est profondément personnel, porté par des personnages forts et une écriture sincère. Chaque épisode est engageant et chargé d’émotions, et l’ensemble réussit à être touchant du début à la fin. C’est exactement tout ce qu’un jeu narratif se doit d’être.
