Lies of P

Esse jogo eu comprei sabendo que era muito bom, mas ele superou minhas expectativas. A história é maravilhosa e, ao mesmo tempo, triste. Pelo menos duas jogadas são necessárias para ter acesso a certos diálogos dos títeres, que são importantes para compreender o jogo em sua totalidade.

Very fun game with top-tier boss design, dodges and perfect guards are both equally viable and feel great! Starting with the glaive is a bit silly though, was my top weapon throughout the whole game + DLC.

Lies of P is one of the few Soulslikes that feels comfortable standing on its own instead of living in the shadow of the games that inspired it. It understands what makes the genre compelling, then builds its own identity through atmosphere, storytelling, and mechanical refinement. The world is beautifully realized. Its Belle Époque setting is elegant, haunting, and filled with subtle environmental storytelling that rewards paying attention. Every new area feels carefully considered, with a sense of place that makes exploration worthwhile even when the path forward is difficult. What impressed me most was the combat. It encourages precision without feeling restrictive, and every weapon has enough personality to make experimenting worthwhile. The weapon assembly system is especially memorable because it gives you the freedom to create combinations that suit your own playstyle instead of locking you into predefined choices. The story also deserves more credit than it often receives. Rather than simply retelling the tale of Pinocchio, it reimagines familiar ideas into something darker and more thoughtful. It trusts the player to engage with its world instead of explaining everything outright, which makes its biggest moments land all the harder. Lies of P succeeds because it has a clear creative vision. It respects the games that influenced it without losing its own voice, and every part of the experience reflects that confidence. It's one of the strongest examples of the genre in recent years, and an easy recommendation for anyone who appreciates games with both mechanical depth and a strong artistic identity.

While this game draws heavy inspiration from a newly popularized genre of difficult games, and even with my expectations high from the best of that genre, Lies of P easily surpassed everything I thought it would have to offer me in not only combat but also build variety, enemy encounters, and especially the story. If you're a patient player who enjoys a challenge and wants a good tale to listen to, I would recommend this game highly (and also the DLC, if you end up liking the main game, as it is even better). I eagerly await what this studio has to offer in the future.
