Legacy - Witch Island

Longer than I expected. Many puzzles.

Despite an initial bad impression (doesn't work with Win10 screen scaling, some really iffy text/translation. 'Lid' is translated as 'lead' throughout, for example) this turned out to be a pretty decent HOG. + Plenty of HOPs, although some of these suffer a bit from translation errors or just plain weird clues. (A ladle thing is called a 'dipper'. I didn't know that a 'patron' is a type of military-grade bullet, for example.) + Plenty of puzzle sections too. Most of them are on the easy side, a few trivially so. But a few made me think a bit. Generally they are well presented and run smoothly. Quite a wide variety of styles too; most of the usual suspects and actually more than a few I'd not even seem before. + Mostly decent music for a change. There's one Jethro-Tull-style tune which I actually really liked. A first for HOG music for me, I think. (Normally I just tolerate it until it gets on my nerves enough to turn it off.) + A really nice touch is that you carry about a knife and lighter. Permanently. This make [i]so[/i] much more sense that 99% of HOGs, where every time you need to light or cut something it's yet another irrational hunt for matches/candles/torches♥♥♥♥♥♥♥sword/bit of glass etc. - So-so plot and often questionable dialog; again this seems to be a translation thing. (There is even one text box which hasn't even been translated at all and is still in Russian, I think (?). - No map. Although the raccoon dude does a decent enough job of helping you find what to do next. (Which is fortunate, as there is a fair amount of back-tracking to find HOPs which you have already done once are opened up again.) - No bonus chapter, although these are usually pretty poor anyway, and there are at least more levels to some of the puzzles if you feel so inclined. Overall, then not a bad example of a decent cut-price HOG. Better, in fact than many of the more expensive/recent examples.
