Leap of Faith

I have played through the whole game once already, before I bought it on Steam. So this is my opinion of the game, not necessarily on the Steam version (if after playing it on here and there is something worth mentioning, I will edit my review). I LOVE this game, it is easily in my top 5 favourite AVNs. This game is much more focused on story, and making you feel all kinds of emotions. This is NOT an AVN that is filled with sex with little to no story inbetween more sex. The writing is really well done, and the LI (love interest) I choose was amazing. Many ups and downs and it really makes you care about the characters. I can not wait to play it again and go down a different path, because yes, this game does "choices" really well. Not the best I have ever seen, but definitly up there. One "downside" for me personally, is that the sex and relationships are all rather vanilla. Which there is nothing wrong with that at all, I just wish more good AVNs would have a character or two that are more on the kinky side. Doesn't have to be extreme, but something would be nice. Though that opinion is not just about this game, but most AVNs I have come across.

C'è tutto in questo gioco che non è basato solo sul sesso... c'è una storia ben scritta, il romanticismo, il dramma, l'erotismo ovviamente, l' umorismo e finali diversi pensati per ogni relazione scelta. Peccato che manca la lingua italiana... Ma è davvero un ottimo titolo!

If you want a story with some real drama (and explicit sex scenes) then this is a visual novel for you. Like all these games/novels, it's about a nice guy who meets a lot of amazing women and you choose whom to romance and have hot sex with. However, I think it qualifies as a fair warning and not a spoiler to note that one of the female choices is afflicted with serious clinical depression. It's an unavoidable part of all the possible story lines. (It is written from the creator/writer's experiences which makes it all the more meaningful, yet more heartbreaking too.) So, if that's too sad or triggering for you, or you just want something lighthearted and sex filled, then avoid this game. That said, the writing is about as good as you can expect in these things since the creators are not just writers but also visual artists. I don't expect novel quality dialog, although it'd be nice if we could. (There are a few rare grammar errors like "bigger then a..." But, I nitpick.) Also, the situations are so generic to be familiar with a large audience and means diluting a character somewhat. Sometimes you'll like the dialog and other times you'll find yourself wishing you could substitute your own dialog that you think would be better, wittier, more charming, or more romantic. Other times, I'm very impressed with the romantic dialog, the jokes, and the humor that can be created with the animations and situations. The story deals a bit with other heavy topics like homophobia and the problems with fame, (although the downsides of fame are heavily unrealistically underplayed and could have been a source of drama, but probably because this game has SO MUCH drama already that adding more felt like piling on.) or being rejected, perhaps only for not being pretty enough. (Men, we prioritize a woman's appearance so excessively and it's hard for us not consider it unless a woman is so downright ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and self-centered we are repulsed. ) These kinds of stories are really fantasies where a half dozen gorgeous girls love you and you can romance them all and have the time and money to do that. However, this game is more realistic in that some girls DO get jealous of the others and you don't get to sleep with every single one each time in just one week. Also, not every girl is a sex fiend who is eager to do everything in bed like anal sex or swallowing ♥♥♥. Pros: Really handsome guys. (In some games the lead guy is really average looking. Why? To make we non GQ model men feel better? But, they always have impressive junk, of course.) Great drawing of clothes and lingerie. (Pet peeve: Thin string thongs are not flattering to a woman's hips and ass in my humble opinion, Sure, show her entire buns but put some SOME fabric on her lower back to create the illusion of a bikini bottom. It's sexier and it looks better. A tiny thin cord of fabric just seems functional and otherwise pointless. Why bother? I actually wished to see more clothing & lingerie changes in the girls depicted, but perhaps I'll see more in the 2nd playthrough. There are lots of scene in dressing rooms and clothing stores that seemed like missed opportunities but LIKELY are there for branches where you choose a different girl. This game has more realistic depictions of actual human dating behavior as noted above, even for the guy. For example, he's hesitant to kiss a girl who has just gone down on him... (Pet peeve: Sigh, kissing a girl after she gives a guy a BJ does not make that guy gay! 🙄 It's good enough for her mouth, why not yours? Don't insult her. After all, you expect to kiss her after going down on her. It's... erotic. Don't be so afraid of your own body.) Sorry, I digress. Cons: Has sad truly gut wrenching scenes. It made me cry. (This might be a pro for you if you like drama and strong feelings.) This is more of an observation that an actual "con" but it appears that the game was intended to have more "game like" features as you find in "Being a ♥♥♥" where you have to explore a few rooms or achieve things. There are "tasks" you have to accomplish as listed in your smart phone in game, but they most are completed by simply choosing options just like dialog option that were going to be presented to you anyway in a very linear manner. For example, "Score 10,000 point in a cell phone game" was one goal, but there is no cell phone mini game component. This didn't spoil the story for me. The creator is kidding himself about this being more of a "game" than the Adult Visual Novel that it mostly just is, which is fine. It's entertaining enough as a story. Final thoughts & observations about such games in general: It's frustrating that all the computer created environments (especially the homes) always look so STERILE simply because adding all the messy details that exist in real bedrooms, kitchens or offices is too time consuming. It all screams, "hand assembled". Software needs to be created that automatically and realistically populates environment artwork like this with clutter in kitchens and bedrooms, socks, clothes, papers, backpacks, more furniture, etc. It would add to the sense of reality. I know this is asking a lot because of the massive number of screens (42,000 +) that create these games. It's labor. (Thus a software tool would help.) If they can create tools that make endless outdoor environments of stone and water, someone can write a tool that helps create a cozy but slightly messy cluttered bedroom. Just a thought. What is it about Adult Novel Creators and breakfast foods? 😂 Dr. Pink Cake is into pancakes and Drifty is into waffles. Go figure. These should be called "Adult Visual Branching (or Choice) Novels" since there are multiple stories with multiple endings. Full disclosure: I have only played through once and went for the most obvious choice (the glamorous rock star) and without using any walkthrough file or software and it feels like I unlocked almost nothing.. but still, I was entertained. So, that's to the game's credit. I may update this review as I play more and go after different girls. I will also give this game credit for creating girls with distinct enough personalities that I actually WANT to pursue each one to see what happens. (and... to see them all naked a lot too. 😂) Again, I credit this particular writer/creator for a game with a much more reality-based approach to relationships albeit still in a fantasy world of possibilities.

It's different, makes you think and builds empathy. Definitely not your typical video game.

Leap of Faith was a pleasant surprise. Going in, I expected a decent visual novel, but I ended up getting far more than that. The story managed to make me genuinely emotional at several points, and I found myself becoming invested in the characters and their struggles. The game's strongest point is definitely its writing and character development. The relationships feel meaningful, and many of the emotional moments landed far harder than I expected. It's one of those games that stays on your mind after you've finished it. The graphics aren't the most impressive by today's standards, but considering the game's age, that never really bothered me. The visuals do their job, and the story is what truly carries the experience. If you're looking for a visual novel with heart, memorable characters, and an emotional story, I can definitely recommend Leap of Faith. It made me laugh, made me think, and even managed to hit me right in the feelings a few times. Team Lexi Highly recommended.

This and Being A ♥♥♥ set the standard for visual novels.

Strong story. Good game.

Came for the story. Stayed for the story. Replayed for the story. Deep emotional story that will hook you if you let it. This is not a harem game. I'll repeat for those in the back, this is not a harem game. If that is what you are looking for, don't bother. It has some flaws with some timelines and ages not matching up / making sense. Just don't think about it too closely. Also, some of the character models appear to be far older than they should be (including MC for most of the story due to a graphical issue turning his hair gray). It also suffers a bit in that there are two love interests with far more fleshed out story arcs than the others. My last quibble is that a major decision point in the story (essentially locking you into a romantic choice), happens too early. I think there should have been another branch there with just an activity choice that evening and then the big locking in the next evening after other information has been revealed. It is a long game and not being able to switch gears was unfortunate. Nitpicks aside, I highly recommend this one if you are looking for an interesting story and don't mind being absolutely train wrecked with the feels.

Ну, что могу сказать. это шедевр друзья. Я не так давно начал играть в новеллы но думаю что уже частично прошелся по эталонам жанра: Summer’s Gone, Being a ♥♥♥, U4iA. Еще мне в принципе понравилась The Grey Dream. А теперь вот я прошел и Leap of Faith. Так что я уже могу наверное немного сравнивать. Каждая из перечисленных игр подарила замечательное время проведенное внутри этих историй. Но Leap of Faith, я просто рыдал в конце, это невероятная штука. Знаете это наверное как прожить маленький кусочек жизни. Так что я искренне и по доброму завидую тебе если ты только думаешь прикоснуться к этой истории. И еще, делитесь пожалуйста в комментариях какие новеллы понравились лично вам и что бы вы порекомендовали? Заранее большое спасибо за рекомендации и приятной игры тем кто только начинает эту историю.
