Warning: Microtransaction infested mobile app!
League of Masters: Auto Chess is one of thousands of nasty mobile apps infesting the "free" section of Steam, but it's not really free. There's only a superficial "game" here. What's "Auto-Chess", you ask? Cancer. I mean, that's what form it usually arrives in. It's basically a spin on the old number idler/incrementer genre, so barely a game... you assemble a "chess set" of samey mobile app character things with stats that go up over time (hence the idler/incrementer bit) then just wait and rinse and repeat. Barely more interesting than clicking on the banana to see if you get an NFT. But just like "banana", scamming gamers is what this is all about... you need to pay cash money to "win" and progress through the toxic cash shop, as everything is paygated disgustingly. So really, the mobile app "game" is just a veneer, a thin skin pretending to be game, wrapped around a nasty, predatory mobile app cash shop. Thus, the true purpose of this mobile app is to get you to hand your credit card details to the greedy mobile devs so you can buy stuff in the nasty cash shop... it shouldn't be considered a real game because it's a mobile app cash harvester, and has no place in your game library. Putting that toxic mobile app monetisation aside... this is a mobile app. I didn't spend thousands on a gaming PC so I could pretend it's an iPhone, and I don't think you did either... this kind of mobile app has no place in your Steam library. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at less than 100 concurrent players, they couldn't even break three figures, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. Worse, those "100 players" were the fake review accounts from the Russian review farm uncovered by Sentinels of the Store... the one these shady mobile devs bought their fake reviews from. Is that illegal? Yep.
Warning: Review Manipulation! This game features a number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product. Due to the 2024 FTC ruling (16 CFR Part 465), these fake reviews are a violation of US Federal Law.
Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.

With 87 hours spent, I felt I needed to write a review to warn others. PAY to WIN, even on the solo map. 1st commander $10, is a pretty good deal, you get the character, blue gear (rare) and some resources for leveling. Every character you want to buy after that costs $25, $50 and the final $100. BUT even if you buy them, chances are you won't get past the 4th solo map. I've bought the first TWO packs, and concentrated most of the resources into the 2nd character after getting a feel for things. But on the Naga, (3rd) map, the bots are unbeatable about halfway through. So if you waste money on this game, like I did, just know that after the 3rd map, you are probably going to abandon the game. It is one of the most fun auto chess' I have ever played, and was happy to support the work by buying the 1st commander, and I did well in the 2nd map. My hubby wanted the Orc, so I waited for the $10 commander to refresh, but IT DOES NOT. The least expensive 2nd commander is $25, but we had over 30 hours in the game, so we thought it would be worth the expense, plus we like to support good games. But now, only one character out of 6 is useable due to the bots being 7+ levels higher than what we could manage with $35 worth of resources plus the daily loot. The drafts are all based on rng, and If you lose even a single battle (by about halfway through the 3rd map), the bot has stats to kill you outright. I've gotten all the way to the final battle several times with full hp (100), only to lose because the bot can one shot me, while I'm doing as little as single digit damage to them. Play for free as long as you can, then just leave. Try Tales and Tactics, pay once, and get everything. Fairytale fables is also good, but messy, I'd recommend either over this one due to replayability.
fake pvp , this is stupid
