[h1] It Kind Of Blows [/h1] Leaf Blower Man is a short, satirical 3D story game about exactly what it sounds like, a man, a leaf blower and a war against leaves, bombs, and increasingly angry protestors. It doesn’t overstay its welcome and for a free title, it does enough to be worth a look for the right person. ---Difficulty--- ☐ Tell My Wife I L... ☐ Engage the gamer position ☑ A Chill Challenge ☐ Are we still on the tutorial? ☐ Easier than regretting the number of hours I've spent on Dota. The game isn’t very difficult. You’ve got three lives, but you can simply respawn, so there’s no real punishment for mistakes. There is an achievement tied to not getting hit at all, but I didn’t really struggle with it. ---Enjoyment--- ☐ Absolute euphoria ☐ Worth your time ☑ It's aight ☐ Beats daytime TV ☐ Ayoo, there's paint drying over there For a free game, it’s decent. My favourite part was easily the reverse bullet hell section, which was the most fun part of the experience. That said, it isn’t overly polished, and if that aspect of the game lasted any longer than its 5–6 minute runtime, I’d probably have come away underwhelmed. The satirical in game ads do fit the humour, but they got mildly annoying fairly quickly for me. I get the joke, it just wears thin fast. ---Quality--- ☐ Even better than oddly satisfying hydraulic press videos at 2am ☐ B-E-A-U-tiful ☑ No complaints ☐ Janky but manageable ☐ GET THE BUG SPRAYYYYYYY Visually, the style works. It’s a rough, blocky 3D with an old-school foundation and some slight polish kind of vibe. Audio and sound effects are solid overall, however the satirical ads are about three times louder than the rest of the game, which was genuinely irritating. The reverse bullet hell section also felt a bit lacking, things like XP pickup range or power ups, which are common to this genre, simply aren’t a thing. On top of that, one achievement is locked behind paid DLC, which is pretty disappointing. [b] Don't be fooled by the "Orca" DLC, which states you need all DLC to complete, as I managed this after simply installing the free "No Ads" DLC. [/b] Overall, I'm on the fence. It is a free title, but you cannot 100% it. The story was decent, but the ads were overly loud and annoying after the first 10 minutes of gameplay. The reverse bullet hell was fun but felt underdeveloped. If Steam had the option to be mid, I definitely would rate this that. I suggest that if 100% completion matters to you and you care more about the gameplay than the vibe/humor, then give this a miss. If you do enjoy satirical humor and have an hour to kill and are not particularly bothered about achievements, then definitely give it a go.
