game performs well enough on my old 2020ish high end PC.
First point of friction is the limited base-game content: while wrestling with the UI in between slow and deliberate menu transition animations (between each button click, it keeps flashing up the title of the game just in case you forgot you were playing LMU I guess?), there are also constant full-screen popups prompting you to spend more in order to access season pass or otherwise paywalled cars and tracks that are strategically littered throughout the base game content rather than foldered separate so you can quickly and easily find the stuff you paid for.
Still haven't gotten to a race yet...the UI is a drag - but when you do finally find an event to join, the ability to participate in online events is also hamstrung behind ANOTHER subscription service. The free RaceControl is needlessly restrictive (can't even register to join an event 15 minutes in advance without a paid subscription on top of base game purchase and season pass purchase!?). Making matters worse, the current asking prices are "EARLY ACCESS PRICES" - calling it now, these already hard to justify prices are just going to go up and up and up.
Fighting through these deliberate points of friction put into the game by the devs, I finally get into a few races - no matter where you qualify, it's a dice roll with small odds in your favour whether you'll make it past the first corner because the game drops you into HORDES of reckless unsafe drivers - only way to deal with it with moderate successs is to start on the grass and wait for the horde to pass.
WISH SO DEARLY that we could work on our SAFETY RATINGS in offline races so we don't have to deal with being banned for having monkeys end our race on the first corner.
