There's a lot of juvenile humor of the middle school variety. The plot lacks focus or purpose and is just generally all over the place. I wouldn't recommend it for adults.
KóterSztrájk (pt. 3) is definitely the best of the bunch, I'm glad I stuck with the series until that one. It's not as good or a fully-fledged RPG as Amnézia (something that you're unlikely to know if you're reading English reviews), but an overall good experience.

One of the best and funniest game from 2004. The simple KóterGame is very short but got a lot of good joke and if you ever lived in a college you gonna love this game.
Classic game, I recommend a try.
3 szó: Mi A Búbántosrongybatekertistenfája?! Egyelőre ennyi, megyek kijátszom még 4x hogy meglegyen minden befejezés...
KóterGame Trilogy Review: A Dorm Life Saga with Humor, Rebellion, and Mystery
KóterGame Trilogy is a collection of three Hungarian adventure RPGs (KóterGame, KóterSztrájk Előjáték, and KóterSztrájk) that bring you into the chaotic, hilarious, and occasionally bizarre world of dormitory life. It’s a mix of humor, rebellion, and mystery, tied together by sarcastic writing and puzzles that challenge your wits.

Gameplay and Mechanics
All three games are top-down, 2D adventure RPGs with a retro pixel-art aesthetic. While the trilogy retains a consistent style, each game evolves in terms of complexity and ambition. You guide dorm residents through various challenges: navigating cramped halls, solving puzzles, and dealing with overbearing authorities (and sometimes the supernatural). The puzzles are the backbone of the gameplay, and they range from logical conundrums to mini-challenges requiring careful observation and timing. Decision-making also plays a big role, leading to different outcomes and multiple endings. This makes the trilogy replayable and fun to experiment with.

What’s Unique About Each Game

KóterGame: This is where it all begins. You follow Jermaine and his friends as they rebel against an oppressive dorm manager. The game establishes the comedic yet oppressive atmosphere and introduces the core cast.
KóterSztrájk Előjáték: This prequel dives into events leading up to the strike. It adds more depth to the characters and their motivations while maintaining the humor and puzzles that define the series.
KóterSztrájk: The final chapter brings the saga to its climax. Here, rebellion turns serious as the stakes rise, blending the mundane with sci-fi elements in an absurd yet satisfying conclusion.

Characters, Setting, and Story
The games are centered around dormitory life in Hungary, where students contend with strict rules, cramped spaces, and the everyday absurdities of communal living. The characters are vivid and relatable, capturing the chaos and camaraderie of young adulthood. Jermaine, the protagonist, is tired of the monotony and rules, but his rebellion sparks something greater. His journey—with his friends—moves from simple pranks to a full-on uprising. Along the way, the trilogy dives into themes of rebellion, freedom, and unity. The humor is sharp and sarcastic, offering plenty of laughs while poking fun at bureaucratic systems and the quirks of student life. But underneath the jokes, the story has a deeper commentary about individuality and resistance against oppressive structures.

Presentation and Humor
The trilogy’s pixel art style might seem simple, but it perfectly suits the tone of the games. The retro visuals feel nostalgic, and the humor is full of witty dialogue, cultural references, and absurd situations. The blend of mundane reality and surreal moments keeps the experience fresh across all three games.

A Dorm Life Simulator? Sort of.
What sets the trilogy apart is how it mixes everyday dorm life with unexpected twists, turning the mundane into something epic. Whether you’re sneaking into restricted areas, managing tense negotiations, or unraveling supernatural mysteries, the trilogy captures the highs and lows of dorm life with a unique, rebellious edge.

Final Thoughts
KóterGame Trilogy is a wild ride through dorm life, rebellion, and absurdity. The mix of humor, puzzles, and a surprisingly heartfelt story makes it stand out, even among indie games. It’s a love letter (or perhaps a breakup letter) to dormitory life and everything that comes with it.

Recommendation
If you’re into quirky indie games with a retro vibe, sarcastic humor, and a bit of rebellion, this trilogy is worth your time. Plus, it’s free-to-play, so there’s no reason not to dive in and experience this unique Hungarian gem for yourself.
Kötü koşullarda yaşayan yurt sakinleri, beton duvarların arkasında korkunç sırlar buluyor ama onlar sadece huzur içinde Mario oynamak istiyorlar.
