This is my initial impression after 10m of playtime. - Looks good, it's a bit dark but I like the visual style. - Small to medium freezes, but that could be a proton issue. - Clunky movement, you're gliding but it feels a bit slippery. - Weird voice acting but the story visuals are pretty slick tho. - Controls can't be set, it seems to be intentended for controllers but keyboard is also supported.
I like it ! it's fresh, funny, BEAUTIFUL, not too hard and perfectly fluid ! Ok, there are few little collision issues but nothing really problematic ! The creator is really cool, it's his first game so we can understand !! Thanks for this beautiful game !!

Je n'ai pas aimé le jeu, le sons est trop fort et obliger de jouer à la manette
Cool concept, a bit buggy here and there. It does feel a bit like a beta of a game but I can't really complain this is a free game and a stundent project. With some more cooking and a longer campaign it can make for a good indie game
A free student project, let's try it out It is a hawaiian themed fighting game where you will progressively unlock new abilities and fight your way through enemies It wants to be a fast paced melee combat game, unfortunately it shows that it is a student project with a lack of focus, missing or unclear functionnality and odd design decisions The final sequence looks nice but feels like it took too much effort that could have been put in the main game in order to polish it The character feels slippery, cant go over small obstacles even though it's visibly flying It's hard to target enemies due to the lack of a lock-on system Enemies are barely a challenge and show their simplistic design The level layout is linear but some failed crossings lead to needlessly long treks back I want to recommend this game, but be aware of all its flaws And after all, it's free and short ;)
This game suffers from the same issue as many smaller action-adventure titles; you can skip all of the enemies, up until the next major checkpoint. If you choose to play the game like this, the non-linear level design becomes redundant as there is nothing to find but health pickups, which you’ll never end up needing. The combat isn’t challenging or rewarding, and the only time my health ever dropped below half was when I clipped through the world and died instantly. If this ever happens to you or you die during an arena fight by some other means, you’ll respawn just outside of the arena on full health, which is all the more reason to avoid these non-essential enemies. In all other aspects, the game comes across as average. It feels like it’s lacking personality, and everything is riding on the border of mediocre, from the combat mechanics to the voice-acting, the writing, music, enemy variation, graphic design, the list goes on. The levels themselves may have some degree of uniquity visually-speaking, but when combining the repetitive structure with the previously stated issue of ‘A>B’ gameplay, all of that gets thrown out the window. It was a good idea to switch things up a bit with the flight segment at the end, I just wish there were more ideas like that spread throughout the game to break up this repetitive cycle. I hate giving negative reviews to student projects, but there is much to learn from and improve upon here, and I think a small amount of quality control could go a long way for this game.
La potite Pépite
"Koa: The Forgotten Gods" is a student project from ISART Montreal. It's a third person adventure brawler. It's not long, but it's genuinely made and slightly higher quality than most student projects on Steam. The graphics in this game are really quite good, which at least makes the game look more appealing. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. Here, you get a reasonably even match, enough to give this a pass. There are some assets which are low poly, that might not look so great, but the free price tag on this gives a bit of leeway in deciding whether this is recommendable. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Yes, believe it or not. While this is far from a perfect game, the deficiencies and drawbacks can be overlooked due to the zero up front price and the value you get out of it. It's greater than the sum of its parts, and worth downloading if you're a fan of this kind of gaming experience.
Cool concept I liked it
