Kingdom Come: Deliverance – A Masterpiece of Medieval Immersion If you are looking for an RPG that strips away fantasy tropes in favor of raw, gritty historical authenticity, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an absolute tour de force. Set in 1403 Bohemia, the game drops you into the shoes of Henry, the son of a blacksmith whose quiet life is shattered when invading mercenaries raze his village. What follows is not just a revenge story, but a profound coming-of-age journey set against the backdrop of a real European historical crisis. Walking the Paths of History Playing this game while living in Germany and traveling across Europe hits on an entirely different, magical level. Being able to physically visit the real-world locations, castles, and landscapes depicted in Bohemia, and realizing you've walked the very same paths, is simply magnificent. Warhorse Studios' dedication to historical recreation turns the game world into a living, breathing museum where every forest, village, and ruin feels genuinely tangible if you've experienced the region firsthand. The Combat System: From Zero to Hero One of the most rewarding aspects of Kingdom Come: Deliverance is its uncompromising combat system. Based on actual medieval European martial arts (HEMA) and motion-captured by professional swordsmen, the swordplay has a steep learning curve that demands patience and practice. True Progression: You don't just unlock skills on a generic tree; you learn right alongside Henry. At the start, you are clumsy, slow, and easily overwhelmed by a single peasant with a club. The Payoff: Every training session with Captain Bernard actually translates to your personal understanding of timing, stances, and combos. Ultimate Dominance: Once you finally master the mechanics, internalize the blocks, ripostes, and master strikes, the feeling of progression is unmatched. You go from running for your life to literally "nagibating" (dominating) groups of armored bandits with supreme confidence. Verdict Kingdom Come: Deliverance is more than just a video game; it is a time machine. Its meticulous attention to historical detail, combined with the deeply satisfying journey of mastering its combat system alongside Henry, makes it an unforgettable RPG experience—especially for anyone fortunate enough to explore the real European landscapes that inspired it.
Man, what a game! After Witcher 3 and Skyrim, I thought no one would create a game that makes me get so immersed in it like those games did, but I was wrong. The game isn't as polished as Witcher 3 or Skyrim, but it’s still great. I heard the second game is much better than this one, so I'm going to try that one too—maybe it will replace Witcher 3 as the best open-world game I've ever experienced.
