KillboxKillbox is an online game and interactive installation that critically explores the nature of drone warfare, its complexities and consequences. It is an experience which explores the use of technology to transform and extend political and military power, and the abstraction of killing through virtualisation.

boring and almost nothing happens exept making me hear the worst thing ever with headphones on that are a bunch of flies
excellent
In the modern warfare - we are just "dots", targets which must be eliminated by order... Many innocent people die before the criminal or terrorist gets eliminated. Good game showing that the price of a human life still low :(

wow
Boring and witout any option. graphics is bad, story is just a single message on a blackscreen and options are very poor. Even the possibility to move in game isn't good
simple but effective; yes, it could say more, but the design of the game speaks volumes despite a lack of specificity.

Normally, I compare these political games to a barbeque skewer: All point, no edge, as they often have a thought provoking message, but aren't shocking enough to deliver the idea. This doesn't hit the mark though. The player control is weird: Why does the player move the camera when it does literally nothing, it doesn't immerse you as the camera can just be left alone after the tutorial, and it automatically centres on the target. The "Player 2" mode was interesting, but it felt very boring, just waiting for something you know will happen, when it will happen and where it will happen. This game's point seems to just be "Killing is bad", which is not a message that needs to really be instilled in people. The abstraction is an interesting design choice, but it implies that drone operators don't know that it's real civilians. Drone operators spend days and weeks observing their targets, learning about them, and watching them go about their lives, then after the kill they watch the dismembered corpse for hours before they can leave. This game just doesn't make you care about the person you kill, so it doesn't feel like a criticism on drone warfare and the cost of civilian life, and ends up just feeling like a cheap game with a vaguely political message and a headline feature entirely focused around generating clicks, downloads, and news stories. I think that Killbox would work much better if it were disguised as a different game, and the "Player 2" mode happens first, before being forced to strike yourself. Overall it's just September 12th again, but worse in almost every way, and without any of the innovative ideas that made that game legendary.
It is, of course, a short experience, meant to elicit reflections on drone warfare rather than entertain. While that is technically true, approach it with an open mind: it has a surprising amount of detail in the player 2 perspective, which only plays into its strengths. A perfect game for its aim, where every detail is clearly curated for maximum effects (do not be fooled by the simplicity of the graphics, they are like that for an expressive reason rather than for limitations)
