Kenshi is less a "game" and more of a place you go to "live in" for a while: *Progress is snail-pace slow (think MMORPG progression pace-- and it's still slower than that), the challenge is ramped-up (at the start-- every NPC can kill you in less than 30 seconds and worrying about starving to death is just as deadly as engaging in combat), and you pretty much set your own goals rather than follow the developer's pre-determined progression path through the content of the game. If it helps, try to enter the game with the mindset that it is *NOT* a power fantasy, and think as if *YOU* were actually in this world and what would *YOU* personally do in order to survive it-- for instance, you (personally) wouldn't run outside and 1 v 10 a group of bloodthirsty bandits. It's the same in Kenshi, you need to come up with clever solutions to problems the game throws at you-- also, explore the world! This game isn't designed for everyone in mind-- it's definitely a "love it" or "not my thing" type of game. But it's a once-in-a-lifetime type of game that most people should (at the very least) try for themselves. *Note: This comment is true for the game's default settings. You can customize some of the difficulty and progression pace to your own tastes, pick various character backgrounds that vary in starting difficulty, and there are a plethora of mods on the workshop to tinker with to adjust the game to tailor to your own personal experience.
