Very short game, with simple puzzle ideas. Would have wished it was a bit more complex. Cool game concept though.
"Never forget you're loved" i genuinely hate you i didn't need this emotional trip Surprisingly fun game, despite how short it is, puzzles were simple but interesting. Definitely a fun ride

Tough one to rate, I decided to go positive because I like this university but I know their students can also do better if instructors focus on teaching them better. It's neither terrible nor good. There is no real story, some cringe talk with a magic ball here and there and short puzzle game. Played trice to finish 100% but oh god it was a pain and let me explain why. Ever since I discovered Atan (an amazing game made by the same university students) almost a year and a half ago, I immediately followed Breda and enjoyed multiple of their games. Their website shows they are a member of Unreal academy so their teaching should be extra-ordinary. Hence why, you need to start teaching your students the most important topic, game optimization. This game surprised me with well integration of steam input system, yet also surprised me dropping to 10 frames anytime around water and some random game assets. I am not sure if students used their own art or borrowed assets from epic store but I own a 3080 Ti and a 5800x, both extremely overclocked, undervolted and watercooled. I can play 1 TB ultra modded Skyrim on my 4k 165 hz monitor about 100 fps natively and I allow LSFG to do its magic for the remaining 62 fps and I lock at 162 with RTSS to enjoy the nvidia reflex at its finest with lowest input delay possible. Anyway, 10 fps on a game like this which clearly doesn't do much of Nanite and Lumen either. No raytracing whatsoever. This game should never see drops to 10 fps on mid to high PCs like mine. I am a Unity solo indie game dev for 5 years. I released 2 of my own games, although I don't know UE like you guys do, as a programmer for 14 years I completely comprehend the rendering APIs, game engines, SDKs, optimization techniques and how they work. In short, Unreal Engine is a phenomenal renderer to work with there is no denying that. However, please teach your kids what they shouldn't produce, they shouldn't make Borderlands 4, or this. From 90 FPS to sudden 10 FPS drops with extreme spikes up and down on frame time is unacceptable. Please teach them how to achieve almost the same results with less triangles. Please teach them optimization. I hope they advance in their careers and get to great places someday. Good luck.
Katharsi is a free puzzle (and gentle platformer) game, set in a well-modelled 3D Byzantine cathedral which has been infected with a plague. A soldier, plus his mysterious spirit helper, must find a path around the cathedral using light beams and mirrors (and the spirit herself) to open paths, and burn away hot-spots of the plague, until they can access and destroy the heart of the plague - and reveal who has been helping the soldier. The game is very short - indeed, there is an achievement for completing it within 8 minutes - but I found it to be enjoyable with well designed puzzles for what it is. The real challenge, though, is in the three achievements related to the number of mirror adjustments (rotations and movements) which were made to complete the game; most of my play time was in repeated playthroughs to work out how to get these, particularly the last and most restrictive limit. There are some rough edges; even after adjusting the graphical settings my computer's fans went into overdrive, the modelling of the soldier is relatively crude compared to the cathedral itself, and there is no save feature (though this hardly matters for such a short game). But I'm glad to have played it.
Katharsi is a nice puzzle game! If you got 15 - 30 minutes to spare and you enjoy puzzles, give it a go! The pros: - Short and sweet - Reminiscent of games like Myst and the talos principle - Music fits the mood and scene, and makes the game come together Improvement points: - I would sometimes accidentally solve the puzzle while just trying to figure out how a room works - Had to play on low because of performance (but it still looks fine on low) - The game has a story, but it didn't feel completely coherent with what I was doing. All in all, definitely worth your time, great job developers!

Insane lore! Very cool soundtrack too! Nostalic vibe, I played two times. If there would be a full version I'd play it!
