A good game!
Surprisingly good. I think this game is appropriately-priced for this type of learning tool, although I managed to grab it while it was on a small sale. I will likely update this review as I continue to use this. The ability to skip the Hiragana / Katakana lessons after doing only like three of those is greatly appreciated. Dividing lessons up between Kanji sequentially and JLPT doesn't leave a huge variety for progression (as an example here, the currently-free smartphone app "Ringotan" allows one to sort by JLPT, by order of introduction in Genki, order of introduction in Remembering the Kanji, "most common first," "by grade level," and several other arrangements), which might make this learning-tool slightly less versatile to some depending on one's goals, but it is no-less helpful to me. Rarely, after exiting a level onto the menu, the game might bug-out and crash, but this has not interrupted any of my levels nor deleted any of my progress (seems to only affect the level selection screen). A text-to-speech option for the correct answer as you select it might be a nice feature (if optional), if features are still being considered and added. As a small note, if you skip to starting with JLPT N2 Kanji, I think it slips in some Kanji from N3, N4, N5 into the new lessons, which isn't a huge deal for where I am at in my own studies (I've casually learned pronunciations of words, read a few chapters of RTK, am familiar with the usage of some Wanikani mnemonics, I'm basically a late-stage beginner and this is perfect for me. If you are a complete beginner, or had simply neglected Kanji up until now, I would also recommend this, and if you are an intermediate learner, due to the ability to skip onto JLPT N1, I think this tool still has a ton of utility). The reference guide / lessons at the beginning of each level are very helpful and suit how I'm using this so far very well. This is a good game, and plays like a quality finished product. A lot of care was put into this. If you're on the fence, I would certainly recommend this. Two thumbs up!!
