■ Juufuutei Raden / 儒烏風亭らでん
“Care to join me on a journey through a tale?”
A grandma's girl who covers herself in both tradition and revolution, and sees big dreams in the rakugo world.
She loves arts and culture of all kinds—new and old, Eastern and Western.
She visits museums so often that she is left penny-pinching the rest of the time. It is most certainly not due to her frequent purchases of alcohol.
Through her encounter with rakugo, she has come to enjoy public speaking more than ever, and she is fervishly writing up her own skits.

Gameplaywise, it's apparent that Jupiter Co. has come really far since Mario's Picross, since this game actually teaches you to play picross and it doesn't have a fail state in a puzzle game. Though it's also clear that the main pricing for the game is based on the branding, and for me the price was worth it. It's nice to learn new bits about arts and culture, it's interesting to hear some new takes on classic pieces of art (the one on Edvard Munch's The Scream was pretty intriguing), and additional stories about Raden herself are a nice addition that'll make any Hololive fan happy
It's picross (sorry, nonograms), so I know what I'm getting into. And my favorite ex-chain smoker is very cute, so that's a plus. One complaint I have is that mouse controls should also enable me to press the keyboard. Middle Mouse to mark is very inconvenient and I should be able to use Mouse+Keyboard at the same time. I've never heard of a "mouse or keyboard" game, usually it's mouse AND keyboard and mouse or keyboard only is simply an additional option. This is inherently a game about logic, not execution.
Very nice game, there are a lot of puzzles and they are all good, the commentary on each piece are also great. There are lots of QoL (the counting one in particular is great for larger pieces) and accessibility settings so it's very easy for beginners to pick up, though I do wish it automatically crossed a row/column after filling in all boxes.
Its simply Peakcross. The explanations are a good break from the puzzle solving allowing you to cool down after a long puzzle. Also Raden cute. 10/10.
Juufuutei Raden is a member of Hololive DEV_IS, an odd branch of Hololive that is generally geared towards unit-wide music with a less idol-centric, more international flair. Despite this, Raden's actual gimmick within Hololive is being an ambassador of sorts for arts and traditional culture, bridging the gap between the highbrow world of arts and academics and the more lowbrow world of streaming and vtubing. Despite not watching her often (she speaks very high level Japanese at a machine gun pace and as a result has no live translation), I'd consider myself a casual fan of some of her content (this, her art history shorts, her birthday / event streams) and I would probably be a much bigger fan if I understood Japanese. For Juufuutei Raden's Guide for Pixel Museum, Hololive somehow managed to get Jupiter Corp - the guys who invented Picross - on board, and I would say that this is by far the highest quality Hololive game I've played so far, and I'd be surprised if anything released as of right now comes close. The only other Picross game I've completed until now was Murder By Numbers, and this, while maybe being less ambitious, blows that completely out the water. Trust me when I say that even if you couldn't give a flying ♥♥♥♥ about Hololive, if you like Picross you'll like this. There are 2 modes, essentially - Exhibition Floor, in which the puzzles are all based around famous artworks, rakugo stories (Raden's lore on debut was that she was an apprentice rakugo storyteller) or elements of Japanese culture, and the Curator's Private Room, in which you complete 15 - 25 smaller puzzles which all end up adding up to a personal memory of Raden involving her time in Hololive. The latter has some quite interesting trivia if you're like me when it comes to Hololive DEV_IS (interested but largely ignorant) - for instance, I remember Raden's debut stream well due to how unconventional and funny it was - she was zoomed all the way out at the beginning, her model appearing as tiny on the screen, and gave this frenzied Rakugo monologue (while a baffled Korone kept heckling her in a separate watchalong stream with Okayu), and then without warning she suddenly zoomed in so much her noh mask - which she only took off for a split second the entire stream - took up the whole screen. Thinking it was a bit - normal vtuber debuts basically have the streamer go through a powerpoint of their interests and skills before slowly showing off each part of their model - I thought it was equal parts subversive and hilarious, but it turns out, she was a bit drunk, totally nervous and had no idea what she was doing. Going back to the gameplay, I have two issues basically. The first is that with regards to the order of the puzzles, you can tell this is really Raden's game, because it's ordered far more in a curator's way than a gamer's way. Difficulty is all over the place - for instance, one of the first puzzles in the first room is one of the hardest in the game, and some of the final rooms are extremely easy all the way through. Luckily the game lets you do most of the exhibition hall puzzles in any order, but it does mean you're a bit overwhelmed with choice at the beginning. What doesn't help is the UI is not the best - it's a minor thing, but I think there easily could have been a better way of navigating between rooms than opening up a menu with Y and then going through a line of paintings. A little gallery with a little RPG maker looking overworld would have been so much cooler. Minor issues aside, this is extremely addictive Picross. It might be a little on the easy side for Picross veterans, but I personally loved it. Even if you're not a vtuber fan, it's worth it just to get a Jupiter Corp Picross game on something that isn't a Nintendo console, and having Raden at the side cheering you on while you do the puzzles brings to mind cute 90s Japanese puzzle arcade games in a kind of fresh and modern way.
A must have if you like Picross puzzles, this game 150 puzzles (not including bonus puzzles), ranging from 5 x 5 to 40 x 30 size. There are useful tools in the game such as hint roulette and auto correction, so that casual players can also enjoy it if the puzzle become too hard. I bought this game because I love Picross puzzles and pixel art, I don't even know who is Juufuutei Raden. It'll be a bonus if you know who she is as she acts as a musuem curator explaining the artworks in the musuem, and the puzzles are based on real artworks.
the price is kinda erm... expensive but at least its fun
