Good job, you really nail the environment ! However, never use text-to-speech again, even no voice is better. And please include vehicles for long sections of walk.
Justice Became Prey is a surprisingly emotional little FPS, and I liked that it tries to make the shooting serve a story rather than being the entire point. I play as Ali, a man whose peaceful life is suddenly destroyed, leaving him searching for a way forward for himself and his little sister. The story has a much more personal feeling than I expected from a game that is still built around guns, explosives and combat. The shooting is fairly straightforward, but I enjoyed having the choice between going in aggressively and taking a quieter approach. The stealth option gives me another way to handle situations instead of forcing every encounter into a firefight. I liked moving carefully through dangerous areas and deciding when it was actually worth making noise, even though the combat systems themselves are not especially deep. The weapons give the action some variety, with guns, knives and explosives all having their place. I found the gunplay functional rather than outstanding, but it works well enough to carry the more story focused sections. There are also moments where the destruction and harsh environments create a sense of danger, especially when everything around Ali feels unstable and hostile. The emotional side is easily the strongest part for me. The game focuses on justice, regret and the feeling of trying to recover after losing everything. I liked that the story is more concerned with Ali's internal struggle than simply turning him into an unstoppable action hero. The music and sound design also help reinforce that feeling, especially during the quieter sections where the game deliberately holds back. My biggest issue is that the gameplay can feel basic compared with the ambition of the story. The shooting, stealth and movement all work, but none of them feel developed enough to make the game stand out as an FPS on their own. Some sections also feel more linear than I would have liked, and the presentation has a few rough edges that remind me this is a small indie project. I still think the focused approach works in its favor. Justice Became Prey does not try to bury its story under endless systems or huge amounts of progression. Instead, it keeps the experience centered on Ali's journey and the contrast between violence and the desire for peace. I appreciated that because it gives even the quieter moments more importance. Overall, Justice Became Prey is a solid free FPS with a surprisingly personal story. I enjoyed the choice between stealth and direct combat, and I liked the emotional focus much more than I expected. The mechanics could definitely use more depth and polish, but the narrative gives the game a stronger identity than its straightforward shooting might suggest. Rating: 7.3/10
