Juniper's Knot

Англоязычный реликт, который стоит внимания и в наше время. В основном благодаря отличному арту — как полноценным иллюстрациям, так и небольшим арт-вставкам, — и хорошему саундтреку: удачным полноценным трекам и грамотно подобранным фоновым звукам. С сюжетом же ситуация более спорная. Задумка рабочая: история о персонажах, которые постепенно проходят от недоверия к дружбе. Но притираются они друг к другу слишком уж быстро, да и пацан в концовке действует слишком уж безрассудно. Хотя "тётя красивая", так что можно понять и войти в положение. В общем, сетап вроде хороший, но в конце всё прям подкатывается в наигранную мелодрамму. Но тут понимать надо: будь сетап плохим, всё скатилось бы в мелодрамму убогую, а «Juniper's Knot» к таковым не относится. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3754506316

No wonder the second half of the trailer is literally just "Bleeding" by CombatPlayer playing. I read this VN years ago, and this beautiful track still lives on my phone and PC to this day. The whole VN slowly builds up to a powerful fusion of music and story in one pivotal scene.

I found this on iOS years ago, and it's amazing. The music, art, and writing are all so good, it's insane to think this is free. I'm sad that dysfunctional system fell through, but Combatplayer continues to make good music, and I forget the artist but I also like their work. Potent.

[h3]One of the best free Visual Novels you can read.[/h3] My intention with this VN was to play it for a minute and then uninstall it. I figured a free VN couldn't be any good and I'm usually right about my intuitions. I was wrong about this one. The writing is so good that I couldn't stop reading once I started. That's very rare for me. Most VNs and books I read I get bored of after a few minutes. This includes classics like The Princess Bride or To Kill a Mockingbird or Pride and Prejudice (except [i]The Great Gatsby[/i], that was a damn good book). Thus, a VN hooking me into it's story in the first few minutes was very unexpected. The most disappointing part of this VN is that it ends too quickly. For VNs, this is pretty rare. Most drag on and on and you wish they'd finish already. [b]Juniper's Knot[/b] feels like a prologue for what could possibly be one of the best Visual Novels of all time. It's a damn shame they didn't expand on it.

A good introduction to visual novels, I wasn't very interested at the start but I pushed through it and kept reading, I ended up feeling very immersed and in love with the characters, I highly recommend it, especially since it's free. :)
