Burn the Heretic! Kill the Mutant! Purge the Unclean!
Not even for the price of a coffee should you check this out. The whole plot is contained to the description you just read on the store page above. I kid you not, the game does not have any internal plot. I don't expect voice acting in a solo man project, but at least text fields with dialogue you can read Morrowind-style? John talks to the villagers in a cutscene but you never learn what in the world they're saying to each other. But no, the game randomly throws out of context Bible verses at you and expects you to intuit the significance of the events unfolding in-game based on those out of context Bible verses. Combat is floaty at best. There is no hit feedback. And if you can't play a game for its story, as there is none, then the combat needs to be good. Like, seriously good. Don't let the screenshots fool you. This game does not feel good to play. And don't get fooled by the "Strategy" and "RPG" tags. Someone doesn't understand what they mean. As for the Christian aspect of the game, which, if you're a believer like me, this will be main selling point of the game for you. Well, I can read the Bible on my own time, I don't need a game to randomly throw Bible verses at me. But what really stands out for me is that this game shows that Carlos hasn't learned anything since making the first game. Usually indie projects get better with each iteration, as the developers learn and grow. Not so this game. It's just as unpolished and rough around the edges as the first. If you're a Christian, there are better ways to get spiritual fulfillment, and if you just wanna kick back and enjoy a game to unwind for a couple hours, there are many far better games out there for that. My feedback to Carlos personally would be: Take some time off, stop publishing games for a couple years, and focus on quality over quantity. The tragedy with a game like this is that I *want* to like it. I *want* to be able to recommend this to my Christian friends. But I can't. Not in this poor state of quality. Look, John Christian came out in 2021. This game in 2022. A solo man, single year development. That's not gonna work. Even teams comprised of multiple people need multiple years to release a polished product.
Masterpiece
Definitely waiting for John Cristian 3
A follow up to Johnathan Christian 1, holds true to the first one where you must save souls from the clutches of evil and most importantly improve your cardio.
ONE OF THE WORST GAMES I'VE EVER BOUGHT. WASTE OF $4
Never again, i loved it
John Christian is back! But this time even stronger and more powerful! John Christian 2 definitely has a lot of improvements and upgrades compared to the first one. In this game, John travels to an island to spread the gospel. Its up to him once again to go rescue more people that are in prison of their own sins. Let me just say that I loved everything about this one. I loved how the armor of God was more detailed on John, along with the sword of the Spirit having a holy, electric detail on it. When he goes into prayer, its as if this force field is around him, giving the sense that he looks like hes going in Super Saiyan mode. Not to mention the combat is so cool with John. You can even do far more powerful finishers with the sword! Plus, you can dodge, backflip, and also fly! The enemies are so cool in this game and there is quite a variety of them which I like. The bosses are something else. The worlds that you travel to are very cool looking, each with different terrian and such. The HUD is different this time with the Faith health and the annointing oil. And I also love how we get to see how many lives we have saved. There is no doubt that this one is better than the first one by a landslide. This one I would definitely be playing again. Also in terms of voiceover, if you need voices for John Christian 4, let me know! You can find me as Jax Price or jaxvoice98 at Fiverr.com. I do voiceover for Christian video games. Anyways, I am looking forward to playing John Christian 3!
