About
Jianghu, As Told is a tabletop-style wuxia RPG hosted by an AI Game Master. You will enter a series of wuxia scenarios and act in your own way amid their existing situations, characters, relationships, and conflicts.
There are no fixed dialogue choices like those found in traditional RPGs. You can simply write what you want to do: observe your surroundings, follow clues, probe or negotiate with characters, or draw your blade when the situation gets out of hand. The AI will interpret your intent, advance the situation, and have the characters and world respond in ways that fit the context.
You may investigate methodically or approach the matter from another angle. You may endure, deceive, threaten, or resort directly to force. Your actions will affect how the situation develops and shape the kind of person your protagonist becomes within the story.
Each scenario has its own background, character relationships, and central conflict, with multiple visible and hidden threads, corresponding clues, character positions, and event nodes.
The game includes content for different investigative and tactical approaches. You can investigate step by step or enter the situation from another direction; follow the available clues or take a risk based on intuition. Different approaches may lead to different outcomes, while the process, the cost, and how other characters judge you may also change with your choices.
The jianghu is not only about blades and fists. It is also shaped by favors, interests, and conflicting positions.
When facing a difficult situation, you may probe, persuade, deceive, threaten, or resolve the problem through force. Your decisions may alter what happens later and change the relationships between characters.
Multiple scenarios take place within the same jianghu. Although each playthrough uses one story as its stage, its characters and conflicts are not entirely isolated. When you encounter an old acquaintance in another land, will it be a reunion between friends or a clash of blades? The answer may depend on the traces you left behind.
In the world of wuxia, truth is not always decided by words.
The game uses its own martial arts and rules system. Physical ability is only one part of a person’s strength. Even the greatest masters are still flesh and blood, yet they may flick a flower or leaf and wound someone without a visible strike. An ordinary person may wield a legendary weapon and still fail to break through a master’s protective force. The difference lies not in the sharpness of the blade, but in the depth of one’s inner power.
You can circulate inner power to temporarily strengthen your abilities and gain an advantage in negotiation, exploration, and combat. Inner power is not unlimited: it recovers slowly and may be consumed at crucial moments. Knowing when to hold back and when to give everything is part of the judgment you must make.
The game’s text is generated in real time by a large language model, or LLM. Character portraits and backgrounds are selected by the system from a preset asset library containing more than 60 scene backgrounds and 200 NPC portraits, all created using generative AI.
The game includes an open-source small model that meets the needs of the default configuration, allowing you to begin playing immediately after installation. Players with more powerful hardware may also try optional enhancements such as adjustable narrative styles, dynamically generated characters and locations, and individual NPC personalities. These options place higher demands on both the model and the hardware.
For players seeking a better experience than the built-in local model, the game provides a configuration interface for compatible third-party model services. You can purchase access directly from a third-party provider and enter its endpoint and API key in the game without modifying any game files. The developer does not provide or sell these services and does not participate in their billing.
Requests made through a third-party model are sent directly to the service you configure and are not routed through developer-operated servers. Any fees, data handling practices, and privacy terms are determined by the third-party provider you choose.
