Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days is one of the most immersive zombie survival games I've played in a while. The atmosphere is tense, the visuals are impressive, and every decision feels meaningful. Managing resources, searching for supplies, and keeping survivors alive creates constant pressure without feeling unfair. The game does a great job of making you care about your group and think carefully about every risk you take. Despite being in Early Access, the foundation is already very strong, and I'm excited to see how it evolves with future updates. If you enjoy survival games with strategy, tension, and a great post-apocalyptic atmosphere, this is absolutely worth playing.
Every round of going exploring is freaking terrifying my heart seriously wanna leave me because of it but I also love the feeling for getting scared cause horror movies isnt working that well anymore. The game have been crashing a bit then and then and thank god it saved because I did one of the survivors stories and I was in the police station so when I left it crashed and I was about to cry cause I didnt wanna go again cause it was scary as hell!!! BUT it saved :') Is nice getting to know the characters stories as well and seeing how some people in game been going crazy and done some messed up things.
-EDIT- WENT TO TALK ON RECENT UPDATE ( same day as review ) TO VOICE I DONT LIKE THE QTE CHANGES (just give options to players in settings?) AND I DONT LIKE THAT THEY LOCKED THE TOPIC AFTER LIKE 10 PEOPLE POSTED, DIDN'T EVEN READ THE THREAD BUT THAT'S SUUUUUUUUUUUPER LAME- DONT MAKE US PUSH ANOTHER BUTTON TO PUSH THROUGH ONE ZOMBIE FFS----------------NEGATIVE UNTIL FIXED------------------------------------ 8/10 I do recommend this game, avid zombie fan, Think if you are ITCHING for a good zombie-survival-management you will like this. I will say that if you are already getting a fix from 7DTD or Zomboid or something it would be EZ to wait for a sale, but if you are itching 25 is fine for where it's at- feeling unsure? check a 3rd party key site. It could use a bit more interplay from the survivors is what I'd say- It could use a little better dialog/realism between survivors, considering the game is kinda based on that, and this is not to say that it doesn't have depth in its current EA state, but i feel like it could have for starters, a difficulty slider at least to make things a little more challenging once you got your game sense, and I will say its not super easy but once you played it a bit you got it in regards to difficulty. I will critic a bit now with possible -SPOILERS- i would frame this similar to old niche survival horror games where the difficulty also ups the "puzzle" difficulty (there's not really puzzles here, just environmental ones) the "puzzle" difficulty, which without adding much to the game, could just be a "DUH" factor where things play out how you'd expect based on choices. or just do that in general, because the morality choices are kinda whatever, and i feel like the might need to be states or characters specific that may be able to talk down aggressors depending on nature and approach rather than have those things be scripted. They wanna try to do a fallout/skyrim dialog/choice thing but it is railroaded.
Over the years, we’ll probably look back at this era and talk about the downfall of gaming. Sometimes I sit down and genuinely wonder, what the hell happened to games? Then something like this one comes along and completely changes my perspective. I only have about 3 hours in, but I’m already completely hooked. I’m not gonna say anything about the game itself because I don’t want to spoil it for you, but it reminded me why I fell in love with gaming in the first place. No endless monetization, no battle passes, no chasing trends. Just a game that makes you care and actually feel something. Gaming isn’t dead. We just need more games that remember why we fell in love with them in the first place.
It's very much it's own thing but think about This War of Mine meets Dawn of the Dead, and State of Decay. It's great.
