Progression is way too slow, instructions are vague for a lot of things in the game, and the whole thing kinda feels unpolished
The UI is way too cluttered and no tutorial exists. The game needs to be more readable and effects (new UIs popping in, etc.) need to be tied to one, clear user input. Also, the buttons on the side with the text aren't an obvious cue, the design might need to change some to show the text is clickable.
ADDICTION CAN NEVER STOP!!!
Starts off okay, but quickly gets incredibly repetitive. Difficulty curve makes little to no sense, alternating between endless grinding and superluminal jumps. A ton of unintuitive, useless or filler features. Numbers get confusingly high (ever heard of a heptatetragintillion? Me either). Unappealing UI made of Arial labels on solid-color rectangles, with the occasional typo and weird visual artifact. Most of the gameplay revolves more or less around waiting. Very few ways to directly interact, only indirectly so by changing up automation settings or buying upgrades. The prestige system has a nice concept, but its upgrades are for the most part extremely underwhelming, save for a few select ones which will propel you decades into the future—only to hit a brick wall that can only be resolved by doing strictly nothing and waiting for a couple hours. Runs are extremely tedious to go through. Starting one requires fine maintenance of your automation to ensure they can start up properly—otherwise they immediately brick and you have to restart the run. Smooth sailing for 1-2 minutes, but then you have to stop all automation in time before hitting a brick wall. Once there, wait for about 4 hours, start the engines again, and hope you're strong enough to overcome said brick wall. Any mistake in the whole process and you have to restart the entire run. At times it feels more like operating a nuclear reactor than an idle game. Did I mention you need to buy all automation upgrades again by hand every time you start a run (there are about a few hundred, and no max button for them)? The surface minigame is pretty much useless. Not only you cannot do anything but wait multiple hours for things to happen, but it's also millions of times more efficient to not do so (level 1 prestige: ~1 second, 2 red coins — level 7 prestige: ~2 hours, 8 red coins). Worse yet, the only bonus it provides to the base game actually depends on your advancement in the base game, not on that of the minigame, so you might as well never open it. A few features are completely useless and only seem to be here for decoration. Most of the inventory system offers strictly nothing (one item literally gives you a 0.000001% damage boost—yes, I counted the zeros). Challenges attempt to entice you to grind them many times with repeatable rewards, but you probably have better to do than doing 100 identical runs to double your damage output (note the x100 jump in HP between each enemy). Automation can be upgraded by waiting (you guessed it) to get boosts that are immediately overshadowed by manual automation upgrades. The IAPs are more or less pointless—most of them are either boosts which you can also just earn through regular play, or UI skins. Final verdict: Interesting idea, but I would not call it a finished game. Feels more like a proof of concept, if anything. It feels rushed and haphazard, its graphic design screams MS Paint rectangle tool, and the balance is catastrophic. So high-maintenance (constant manual upgrading and watching to ensure automation doesn't devour itself) that it fails the basic requirements of the idle label. At least it runs a stable 60 FPS.
Idle System, Inc.
