So far so awesome, Love the writing and the combat is surprisingly deep for being rock paper scissors. will edit this review when i inevitably have an emotional break down because of this game
I went in expecting a Tumblr ass type emotional journey... and it was! But really really well done!! Frick!!!
This is hands down my favorite videogame of all time. It has the best writing I've ever seen in a game while also having engaging combat and great art, designs, music, ect. It is nearly perfect in every way. Please if you enjoy story telling or writing in general I can not recommend this game enough.

This game is quite possibly one of, if not the best story-based RPG games I have ever played; the characters are absolutely made to get attached to, with their very distinguishable personality types and fun little intricate details and backstories. Everyone from the Head Housemaiden to the King to Siffrin themself ((AND ESPECIALLY MIRABELLE I LOVE MIRABELLE)) were all so fun to listen to and find out more about that I can't help but think about some of my favorite scenes with them even after having beaten/seen the game up to 3 times now. Playing through this game made playing through the prologue (START AGAIN: a prologue) very fun and super insightful, and it all inspires me so heavily to refine my writing skills and try and do the characters of this game a fun little service by including them in my own storylines, especially in interactions between them and my other favorite characters (Niko from OneShot and Ori from Ori and the Blind Forest/Will of the Wisps :3) The premise of looping in time every time you die or {slight spoilers for Act III)
experience anything that brings you great emotional distress
gave this game a very good opportunity to explore the mental health and inner workings of Siffrin in a way that made me super attached and able to relate a great amount at times, as I was going through some pretty bad trust issues at the time, and felt as though I wasn't able to trust that my friends actually do value me and aren't hiding some form of hatred from me, but of course, {FINAL ACT SPOILERS)
as Siffrin had to learn, honesty and transparency is the only thing that can mend broken relationships and create unbreakable ones even when things felt indifferent between them and their friends before.
Of course, (AGAIN, FINAL ACT SPOILERS)
the ending including a fight between them and their party with such a beautifully composed theme brought out a lot of emotion in me, up to the point where the cutscene afterwards made me tear up a little and caused my breath to get shaky; it's a scene that's hard to forget and gave quite possibly the best grand reveal as to why the loops were happening in the first place that this game could've ever asked for, right after the absolute horror that was

the Head Housemaiden telling Sif that they could not fix the timeloops due to the theory that the loops were started from everyone's wish for Vaugarde to be saved being rotten.

This game having a good ending was certainly not undeserved, and it served as a very good message to those suffering from incomplete or broken friendships, or even some form of imposter syndrome, and I hope it helps someone out there who really needs it.
I don't regret the time I've spent playing this game at all, and I wish I could've valued it even more in the time where I needed it. Siffrin is adorable, Mirabelle is CRABBING adorable, STARS they're all BLINDING ADORABLE!! I want to see more representation of this game in media very very badly PLEASE MAKE MORE ART AND CROSSOVER FANFICS OF THIS GAME PLEASEEEE 🙏
Easily one of the best takes on a time loop in a game. The writing does a perfect job of building a sense of hopelessness and existential dread the more times you reset. The protagonist's descent into insanity is expertly told, and at times uncomfortably accurate. The main cast took a bit to grow on me but I loved them all by the end. The setting is really cool and I wish it was explored more. The combat itself is a neat concept but becomes trivial during the back half of the game (probably intentional that doesn't mean it didn't drag the pacing down for me). Overall an excellent game and deserves a place among the great indie rpgs.
I KEEP FORGETTING ABOUT THE ROCK AUGH
i just finished my first playthrough of this game and i think it might be one of the most important pieces of media i've ever engaged with in my life to me, personally.
Ultimately feels more like a visual novel than an RPG with how text heavy it is, the RPG elements never really go anywhere other than being a storytelling vehicle, but even then I can't understate how touching of a story this was. All of the main cast is so strongly written and characterized, even the ones I wasn't completely sold on at first still won me over. Such a great depth and so many little hidden scenes to uncover, and all of the building pressure and anxiety in the story eventually feels so intensely palpable. Repetitive by nature, a game & story you need to be patient with, but it helps that you're right there with Sif in banging your head against a wall. It's also among the most mentally tortured I've ever seen a character get in time loop type game like this, so that's neat!!
