Honestly? i love it, its a great game for starting with nothing and buildin your way up to higher tech, i called it a rougelike ark survival for the mission section [the map stays the same]. every mission you start with nothing but as you level and complete missions you unlock perks to aid you in getting everything quicker for your objective and as you do objectives you earn money to drop with starter gear which progressively gets better, and there are loads of starter stuff to choose from like your standard array of tools (axe, pickaxe, shovel) to more important deployables like the furnace and bed. It will however require time to reasonably settle in if you plan to do missions only, pick some podcasts, stay on task, mine any PURPLE ROCKS you come across and whatever you do. DO NOT DO HARDCORE till you reasonably find out what all the creatures are and what they do in the world, they will pancake you if you think you can walk around at night without a plan. if you want my tips, get enough to make half a house and remember where the caves spawn, build from the cave out, the cave always has water inside and the neccesary tech up mats and provides shelter and you can tank the debuff till you learn the game, that and always collect bones, make the best knifes you can and hit the animal skeleton with your knife after skinnin it, bones are gold for building till you know better

This game is not user friendly. Lockups, controls re-mapping, keyboard commands not functioning. I thought perhaps it was my brand new system; therefore I tried other games, then opened STEAM on my older system to see if it had something to do with the new computer. NOPE! Icarus is just a mess. In order to play with a controller, you will need a keyboard and a mouse as well. The controller will randomly unmap, sometimes the keyboard works...sometimes it does not. In a last ditch effort to see if the issue was ALL of my computers, I paid for a second copy for my son, and after he loaded the game...same problems. Was surprised to find this game rated so highly, when it is broken.

Icarus is your classic build and survive game. Similar to a game called astroneers you need oxygen. BUT your base doesn't have oxygen. You NEED oxite for oxygen. Build, tame, survive, do whatever you want to do. The story is YOU.

One of the best survival games I’ve played in a long time. The feeling of stepping out into this massive, hostile world and slowly building up from nothing never gets old. The survival loop feels super rewarding because every run actually requires you to plan ahead and respect the environment. It’s easily become a game I can throw on and completely lose track of time in.
