Firstly, a little rant on the 'Mixed' Review Score this game has at the moment and the content of most of the negative reviews contributing to it: A bunch of the reviews on here are utterly ridiculous. The game is not free, you are not owed official servers to host on for free (as a note, it uses steam servers so you don't need Hamachi or anything), and the game is not 'dead' because you can't find a ton of people willing to let you play with them for free whenever you want. It's made super clear in the description and forum that this is a paid game, but one that generously allows you to essentially have infinite copies to give to all your friends so *they* can play with you for free. The alternative is making everyone spend a bunch of money on the game along with you, which means that if they aren't super interested in it and have the spare cash this is a single player game for you. Well, thanks to all the negative reviews on here that are basically "never played this, but game not free for me forever, 0/10" it looks like they've opted for just that going forwards because their other board game port that recently came out, Gem Rush, is about $11 per player. Congrats guys, now if you want to play Gem Rush with a friend you all have to pay $11 instead of just you paying $15. Thanks for that. It's now much better. *rolls eyes* As for the game itself: It's sort of a cross between Clue and Betrayal At House On the Hill, but way less random and way better designed than either. There is no roll to move, the monster can start planning their alternative victory condition from turn 1, and you can logically deduce what and who they are through detective work in the game itself. The monster powers are all useful and strike a nice balance between being powerful enough to fight against multiple players while not being overwhelmingly good. Additionally the dynamic of a hidden traitor game without any co-op is pretty unique and nicely handled. Concerns that a hunter might just tell everyone who and what the monster is the second they find out is sidestepped by the fact that there really isn't any benefit to doing so. Only the one who kills the monster wins so the monster winning or another hunter winning are equally fail conditions, and since you can't ever be fully eliminated as a hunter you'll always have a better chance at winning if you help keep the monster's secret (you might even try to trick another hunter into thinking you might be a monster!) while desperately trying to kill them - even if it means you have to drag your crippled body across the house and throw rocks at them while everyone else looks about confused. The only issue I have with the game is that the shotgun and rifle are fairly powerful and can hurt every player and every type of monster equally. This means that you can skip the entire point of the game (deducing who and what the monster is) and ignore the clue tracking system and just shoot everyone until you win if you get them; this is especially lame at lower player counts. I really wish you could choose to remove those two cards from the game in the lobby like you'd be able to in a physical game by just removing them from the deck. All in all though, this is a great little gem from Victory Point Games that you can easily get your friends to play with you because *for them* it is free to play with you if you invested in a copy - just like it would be if it were a physical board game you bought. PS: The AI is laughably bad, so don't get this if you somehow will never be able to get your friends to play with you despite their ability to do so for free.

Hunt: The Unknown Quarry Why hasn't this game blown up yet? This is one of the few -if not the only- social deduction games that do not induce toxic behavior and does not make you dread being on either side of the players. Hunt: The Unknown Quarry is a turn and card-based game in which the players aim to identify who the monster among them is. Great game to play with friends, strangers, literally anyone. This game needs more players so there actually *is* a random lobby we can join when our friends are not around. Please play this and recommend it to your friends!
Nice little social deduction game... Unfortunately the devs have abandoned it. Forums are dead. Don't buy it.

Это даже не демка... Тупо скачиваешь игру без возможности двинуться куда-то дальше меню. Хочешь попробовать - плати 15 баксов.
I'm thoroughly enjoying this game. It's a great alternative to Cluedo, but slightly more challenging and in-depth, in my opinion. It may take a few games to get to grips with the mechanics, cards and options available, but it won't be long before you find yourself either being targeted/preyed upon or interrogating/attacking other players. It's a dog-eat-dog type of survival game, where everyone's out for themselves including the monster. The theme and daunting background music enhance the game, making you feel slightly uneasy (like prey), not knowing for sure who, what or where the monster is, unless they reveal themselves. Also, playing as the monster is an additional challenge, which requires an alternative strategic approach. You'll soon find you can't just go around munching on fellow opponents in broad daylight, but have to maintain a far more stealthy disposition. I felt the game was fairly balanced well, particularly if playing the monster against AI opponents (for mediocre players). However, I haven't had the chance to properly play any friends online yet, so can't say if this will be the case against live players, who I think will be a little more savvy. In any case, I believe this could only enhance the game further, making self-preservation more challenging. I've seen other comments related to lack of online activity (no one to play with) and about playing for free. For me personally, it's no big deal, never felt the real need to be able to play strangers online. I took a gamble, bought the game and tested inviting a friend to play (for free), which worked fine, no issues. I was sceptical at first after reading some comments, but am extremely pleased to say how glad I am that I made this purchase. I can't recommend 'Hunt...' highly enough, for those who love Cluedo, Mystery of the Abbey (tabletop games), but then maybe I'm just extremely optimistic and easily pleased.
"Hunt: The Unknown Quarry" is not a complete game. It's an advertisement/demo, and you have to pay more money through DLC to actually unlock the game. What do you get if you let the deceptive and shady marketing win and pay the DLC toll to unlock the game? Hunt: The Unknown Quarry is a boardgame ported to PC with disgusting pricing, and no players of course because of the aforementioned shady pricing practices. The idea behind the game is, well, a crap version of Among Us where one player is a monster and the other players roll some dice and work out who the baddy is. Social Deduction dumbed down and with an unappealing Cluedo-like veneer.. But remember... you don't get the full game unless you pay up.The purpose of this advertisement is to get you to shell out a whopping $15 USD to unlock content needed for the full game, and I don't recommend you do that either. What do you do in the game? Nothing, there's no servers because nobody fell for the crappy, misleading non-free advert marketing. For gameplay purposes, because the user interface for this game is mostly just 2D static text/images... it might as well be a web page. It's functionally no different from a browser game. And we all know, Steam isn't here to compete with Chrome and Firefox. If the game can be done in a web browser, it's just not rich or compelling enough to appeal to serious gamers on PC. This game is fairly dated at 8 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. On pricing and value for gamers, this isn't really free as you're expected to pay up $15 USD to unlock content/DLC, the game should not be considered completely unlocked until you empty your wallet for the developer. This is misleading and predatory pricing on a product falsely marketed as "free". As an advertisement, this is only free in the same way that adverts on Youtube and banner ads in your browser are. This is a game demo that's been dumped on Steam to advertise another Steam store page in the hopes of raking in some cash. Just because advertisements are free, doesn't mean they're worth your time. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at just a dozen or so concurrent players, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. Advertisements and incorrectly published demos don't add +1 to your game collector count, they aren't full games. It's impossible for me to recommend this incorrectly published advertising spam to gamers, you deserve better than adverts.
