At first this game was a fun thing to leave running while doing other things. I was making slow but steady progress. But for the past 6 or 7 runs my Dudes keep getting their asses handed to them very abruptly in fights they should have been able to win, and I can't figure out why. I feel like there's some underlying balance issue, but I can't see enough of the numbers as they happen to make sense of it.
Unfortunately, the game gets boring very quickly. The depth of the game feels somewhat artificial to me. It gives you the impression that you are playing different builds with different items, when in reality, the main thing that differentiates your runs is the Dudes themselves. What makes this worse is that, in the long run, you will eventually get all the character-specific items for each Dude anyway. For the price of the game, I would definitely expect the Dudes to have different subclasses or meaningful alternative build paths. The first ~30 rounds are fun because you are still experimenting and trying to figure out which combos work together. After that, however, I basically just pick the hardest fight available and buy the next relevant item for whichever character needs it. That completely takes away the incentive for me to play another 120 rounds. The decisions about which enemies to fight also don't feel deep enough. There aren't enough situations where I genuinely have to consider which opponent I should choose and how that decision will affect my build later on. Because of this, the game doesn't really feel like an auto-battler to me. It feels more like Cookie Clicker with auto-battler elements. The battles are automated, but the decisions you make beforehand simply aren't deep enough to support the genre. After the first 30 rounds, I no longer feel like I'm actually building something or making meaningful strategic decisions. I'm mostly just clicking the next optimal option. Overall: The core idea is fun and the first few hours are enjoyable, but for a game at this price point, I expected significantly more strategic depth. More meaningful subclasses, genuinely different build paths, and much more interesting decisions when choosing opponents would make a huge difference.
It's bonkers, and I love it!
Game is fun if you play it the first 2-3 times. And then, as the others say, it just becomes boring. There is not much depth in game, and while they say there is a big sense of changing your dudes and breaking the game, the only thing breaks is your dudes, and your will to play another LONG ASS RUN. Rougelites aren't supposed to be this long. Slay the Spire, Raccoin, Hades, Monster Train sure you can sink hours into it, but not just one run that might get fumbled out of your control, no matter how fast you use active items in battle or whatever you do. And you don't know when you messed up irreversebly, it just happens. It could be fun, but it is just... for some reason not. It lacks something. I enjoyed it, but I cannot go around and recommend only because it has a meme value to it. Looks like that this game needs more Designer Dudes to it, to make it more fun, and less.... like a chore.
Legit a mindless idle game where it feels like you don't really know what is happening, because the abilities and units you get just cluster into a massive ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pile of minimally animated overlapping images. I can't recommend this, not even for people that like idle games. It is so boring and the humor is basically non-existent. The whole thing this all even is based on is joke of "how many dudes can take on *insert thing*"; it doesn't have a simulator aspect of it where that is even what you feel like you are actually facing up against. The things are legit just statblocks with a picture on them; it is basically watching an Excel Spreadsheet do a calculation over a long period of time where you can hit a button that says "add +10 back to my good numbers" or "remove 15 from the bad numbers".
Feels spiritually more like an idle game than an auto battler with how much waiting you do. Long runs. Incredibly easy for almost the entire run except last couple of fights which you get to after an hour or so. Even if you haven't lost a dude the entire and have easily taken every high-risk option, you can still get wiped without any idea of what to expect. Conceptually, I like it, but runs need to be half the time with more interesting difficulty variation throughout.

To preface this review, I love the game, great music and the gameplay is tight However after a few (20) hours of gameplay the game would, on boot, create driver timeouts on my AMD card that would eventually ripple onto every game and eventually black screen my whole OS. Three days of troubleshooting, DDU/ACU while offline and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around bios and settings and the same factor remains that this starts happening when the game boots and triggers a catastrophic driver corruption that usually need a clean reinstall of said drivers. I'm not sure if its something in my settings or my save but Its currently unplayable for me in its current state which is quite sad since I quite loved the game so my negative review is for the people with the same specs that I do/RX 5000 series card users.
Great game ruined by an absurdly grindy achievement I am writing this negative review in hopes that the developers reconsider the balance for the "Baby Boomer" achievement. I’ve played for over 60 hours, completed every single other achievement, and earned Gold Stars on 60–70% of all characters and items across various difficulties. I genuinely enjoy the core gameplay, but requiring players to defeat 50,000 Toddlers is ridiculously poorly balanced. Even if you explicitly target Toddler encounters, you barely fight any in a standard run. Progress is painfully slow. After 60+ hours of full dedication and clearing almost everything else, my total count is still under 40,000. Forcing players to engage in tens of hours of mindless, arbitrary farming long after they have already mastered all content is not a fun challenge—it is pure disrespect for the player's time. Please adjust this requirement to a sane number. I will gladly change this to a positive review once it is fixed.
