Great game wish there was more to do since at this point the game is pretty much a single player game.
Wonderful little game. I tried the Beta-version and it was very addictive. Still some game crashes though, but that is not a big problem. It's a little shooter where you control a drone and go to shoot other drones. In the beta-version, you could either team up with others or play deathmatch. Both versions are fun. The game is not really big or needs a big performance, so you don't need HighTech to play this.

This game is unplayable unless you want splitscreen. They talk about online play but all options for that in the game are grayed out. The game is quite laggy, and I know it is not my computer because i can run games such as Skyrim Special Edition, Rome 2 Total War, Total War Shogun 2, And Subnautica all at the best graphic settings smoothly with over 60 fps. They need to fix this game, it should not have even been released in this condition.
Hoverloop Early Access Game Review
Hoverloop is a “multiplayer split-screen arcade arena combat” video game developed by Not A Company. This studio consists of 2 people, Philippe Mesotten and Lars Driessen. Hoverloop was successfully funded on Kickstarter, and you can check it out on Steam here.
Premise
In Hoverloop, you control one of many customizable drones, each with its own special ability — similar to an “ultimate” in a MOBA — to help ensure victory. On each in-game stage, there are various item pick-ups to discover to further increase the edge over your opponents. Additionally, there are a wide variety of game modes to choose from to keep the game fresh.
Gameplay
Hoverloop’s gameplay consists of two main parts: the player controls and the game modes. Player Controls This is where the game defines itself. As a floating drone, you can fly through the game stages — literally — allowing you to perform flips and hit intense aerial shots. There is a strong focus on vertical combat which many of the stages play into quite well. This fast-paced game has twitchy controls that are reminiscent of Unreal Tournament 2004 in many ways. Game Modes At the time of writing, there are eight game modes to choose between. I will touch on a few of them here. The most familiar game mode to most will likely be Deathmatch; this is a free-for-all mode where the player with the most kills within the allotted time wins. Air Hockey is another familiar game mode; two teams pilot their drones in an attempt to be the first to score 12 points in their opponent’s goal. Invasion is the next game mode; this mode is reminiscent of Call of Duty: Zombies where you battle neverending hordes of enemies. The last game mode I will mention is the all-the-rage Battle Royale; adjacent to PUBG and Fortnite, this is Hoverloop’s take on the genre where the last player standing wins. Remaining game modes that I did not discuss here are relatively self-explanatory and you would likely be familiar with them from another game. No matter which game mode you choose, you can be sure it will be all about non-stop action.
Praiseworthy Points
The tutorial impressed me right-off-the-bat. I began in a lone room with several adjacent rooms, each labeled with a tutorial topic. From there, I was able to choose what I wanted to learn and when I wanted to learn it. I could choose to venture into the movement section and learn how to master the controls of my drone. Alternatively, I could explore other rooms which would hone my skills with weapons or drone abilities. I think the open-ended guide-yourself style plays into how many players desire to learn a new game. The online menu looks modern and snappy. I really like the direction that Not A Company is taking on that front. I would love to see styling and flow from that menu ported over to the offline and local split-screen menu — or perhaps join them all to form one menu to the rule-them-all!
Areas for Improvement
While I appreciate that Hoverloop supports both the mouse and keyboard combo and a controller, at times menu prompts, the tutorial, and in-game messages occasionally only provide input hints for either one or the other. To improve this, I would prefer to only see control hints for the input device currently in-use similar to how many other games — most notably Rocket League — do this. To expound on this, it quickly became clear that Hoverloop was designed primarily with the controller in mind. After a short while using the mouse and keyboard, I quickly switched to my Xbox One controller which made me feel much more at home with Hoverloop. The floaty controls are fun, but I believe they are too floaty, especially with the precision required for aiming. I found myself frequently disoriented, losing my sense of which direction was down. With some tweaking, I am sure improvements can be made to the aerial mechanics to make them less vertigo-inducing and an even more solid game mechanic. This is one of Hoverloop’s strongest points, and I would love to see it refined further.
Final Thoughts
Hoverloop is overflowing with potential. I am excited to see continued development and polish in upcoming updates. All remarks in this review were made with the mindset that Hoverloop is an Early Access game with much of the game still in-flux and evolving based on development and player feedback.
Really good game for playing it with friends. Splitscreen is working very good using the keyboard/mouse and controller.
+ Idea is nice, graphics are fine TBH; + This game has bots at the very least; - Can't link my account. Maybe you could add "Register" button in the game, too?! - Dead multiplayer; - Such games with low playerbase and bots require achievements to work with bots, too.
A competitive game where you float around on a hovering hockey puck that you can dress up, also it has guns. Lots of modes to play, playing with friends is the ideal way to enjoy this game https://youtu.be/Qtr3XW1B3nM
