Hot Squat has a way of motivating me to keep going, and I can't say why. Would never do more than 100 squats on my own without vr, but in game, I'll go all out. A part of it has to do with competitiveness and seeing the leader board. I like the retro gym setting, and the bold colors. The transparent walls help to give the gym setting more space, and so you can get ready for the next squat. Music is non-offensive and gets meditative after your first couple hundred squats. A couple things i'd love to see in any possible future updates are the option to choose different music, or even stream personal favorite artists/albums, and maybe squat variations (side lunges and curtsies)
While the idea is great, the implementation is not. The games requires you to perform squats at such fast pace that isn't healthy. Instead it should focus on repitations where you hold a good form. This is especially important, because you cannot see your form in VR. Furthermore, focusing solely on squatting can be boring after a while. It would be better to add short breaks and some varierty during the sessions. The second part of this game improves on this aspect, but it is limited too by only including side stepping walls.

Not made for tall people. I'm 193cm and it forces me into a bad form. Also the fast squats are almost impossible if you have to move 85cm up and down for one squat. Room for improvements like: - Better support for tall people - "Put your hands back into the box" what box? Impossible to see the boundings of the box - More competitive, like live multiplayer.
Hot Squat is a free VR game that is also exercise program. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Don't play right after eating. Good exercise game for doing squats. Try it, feel the burn.

I installed this game late on a saturday night. I started the game and there it was, the squat wall. 10 squats in I was feeling confident. 25 squats in the sweat was beginning to drip. 200 squats in I was starting to get tired. 300 squats in, this is my life now 500 squats in, THIS IS MY HELL NOW 750 squats in "*beached whale in labor noises*" At 1001 squats I decided to call it quits, at number 17 on the world leaderboards I was feeling pretty good. Then I went to grab some water and when I was walking down the stairs my legs gave up on me and I stumbled down the last few steps. 10/10 would wake up my entire family again.
Great concept, great presentation, bangin soundtrack, but awful, awful execution. To be fair I'm a little on the tall side, but considering I've gotta plant my ass on my heels to get though these holes I really can't see someone of average or even short height being able to maintain good form (rule of thumb: if your knees are going past 70 degrees you're basically taking a ballpeen hammer to the kneecaps) Plus, the irregular/fast rhythm not only stops you from getting in the zone, but further ♥♥♥♥♥ up your form. If there were an option to adjust the height of the holes and set a regular pace for the squats it'd be the best workout game in existence, but right now I can't tell if the dev just didn't do their homework or if they're actively trying to hurt people. Hopefully this review saves some knees, if you like this game's vibe and wanna get a nice ass just listen to the soundtrack while doing regular squats.
Really fun game! I go to the gym a few times a week but it was still very challenging, physically and mentally. I kept thinking there has to be an end but seemed like it was going forever, the music and body shaped tunnels still haunt my sleep... I think a cool feature would be a spectator mode where someone can sit at the keyboard and be one of the gym goers in the background and lob balls at you to put you off, and if perhaps if you hit them away with your hand you get a bonus of some sort. Just and idea to give it more replay value. ... and yes, my butt is bloody spectacular ;)
It's just popping up and down.. how hard could it be? *2 minutes later* Oh, God! The burning! The burning! The game keeps lulling me into a false sense of security with an easy first round and then kicking my a- err.. calves and thighs in my climb up the leader-board. The only quibble I'd mention is that it's not immediately clear what the mechanics of the game are so you're likely to lose a few rounds without quite knowing why, but in retrospect it becomes obvious that you're doing inverted hurdles in a room full of telekinetic amputees. ..I admit I may have read a bit too much into the bench press animation
Great game, this game made me lose 10 kilograms but i have a big problem and the problem is this game doesn't have sex. the devs should try to work on adding sex and this game would be a 10/10. Edit: i forgot this game made my butt so big, thanks game very epic #besties
