if you don't buy this game I'll come into your house at midnight yall got the right charm about everything the artwork the music is just *chief kiss*
Hop Top is a phenomenal game that does more than look the arcade part, its genuine and so is the art, music and difficulty. Heraga and Miracle as a whole did a banger job bringing this to life and this game fits snugly with all my other arcade greats!

This just screams Classic Namco Arcade right there, I'd urge people to play it for anyone who's into retro games!
Extremely cute love letter to 80s arcade games. I also see the Amiga Ball there, too~ It's short and sweet, clearly made for arcade fans who like to 1cc games or go for high scores.
Super fun and challenging. Great arcade throwback. Highly recommended.
brutally challenging and addictive hop-em-up with a phenomenal degree of audiovisual polish, an instant alternate-reality arcade hit I feel emasculated by this game, but I swear, I will hop to the top
Quick disclaimer, I have talked with and worked with one of the developers on another project many years ago. I was not asked to write this review . So Hop-Top is a vertical scrolling, arcade-themed platformer/shooter where you bounce higher and higher through an escalating series of platforms as you shoot your way through waves of hostile bugs. As noted in other reviews the game has the enemy formation structure of Galaga blended with a more refined version of Doodle Jump's ascending platform architecture. What I think makes the game appealing is that successful ascension depends on developing good heuristics in order to tackle each individual enemy wave. Since the generated level structures vary based on a mix of templates for each world in the campaign, you can't easily brute force memorize your way through the stages. Instead, the game rewards quick thinking where you prioritize certain targets based on the circumstances of the moment while picking your jumps in the chaos of enemy bullets. Play the game well by surgically removing (or just bullet spraying) the enemies and knowing when to risk a jump for a powerup and you can control any onslaught in the main game. Play slowly however and you'll get overwhelmed when the enemies flip to their aggressive phases, assuming you haven't already fallen to the other anti-stalling features in the game. This is all good stuff, and I think it gives the game a niche where a lot of tougher platformers rely on technicality or memorization. That said this is a fairly short game. A good player can probably clear this in under an hour, so you may want to challenge yourself in the much more difficult endless mode or attempting a 1cc run after you beat it. Otherwise this game may feel a little thin in content. I think it's fine for the price however. Art is very clean, and the game plays homage to the genre respectfully. Recommended, with the note that this is a short game.
Wonderful, feels like a Namco Arrangement game in Campaign mode (with a classic Arcade mode as well) and is pretty fun to play. Would love achievements though.
