About

Late at night you enter their world. You will inhabit a girl named Abby and influence the world around her. Accompanied by her brother Michael you will traverse beautiful lands, unfamiliar places, and dark forests. Careful your presence has caught the attention of something sinister...
Many indie RPGs claim to be a new quirky game, but Away From Home is a mix of many great RPGs. It captures weirdness, difficult decision making, and a beautiful story. The game combines traditional RPG gameplay with rhythm game elements! The characters are full of emotion and let you empathize with them. Don't forget that this world needs you.

Imagine if a JRPG and a Rhythm game had a love child. This game plays like Earthbound when it comes to walking and talking in it's overworld, but when it comes to missions and battles it throws in rhythm games related to the event. Characters also have real voices to help create mood and feeling to them. The big highlight of the gameplay is the huge amount of animations. The characters in this world are alive and through your gameplay you will begin to understand.
The amount of things to do in locations are never ending. Chocked full of lengthy side missions that unlock you new moves and items as well as random chance based events. The progression of side quests and random town events are based from entertaining games such as Yakuza 0!
The world is large and will take you hours to complete everything, not to mention alternate routes that bring replay-ability. Some routes include game changing decisions as well as items and battles you wouldn't be able to do had you made different choices.

Old school rhythm pixel graphics RPG game that you can run on a potato! But that's not all,it's complete free, there's a story and for 1 hour of gameplay I haven't even reached the end of the game. You can continue story (with the same characters & progress) in their next game - Away From Home!

This game is sooo cool. The art looks amazing and the music during fights makes it super fun and intense!
Home is a fun and unique mix of rhythm gameplay and RPG storytelling. The pixel art is beautiful, the animations are full of life, and the world is packed with colorful characters. Battles are all about timing and music, making every fight feel exciting. The soundtrack fits perfectly and makes the experience even better. Exploring the world is also a treat—you can interact with lots of things and face off against strange enemies. If you enjoy rhythm games, great music, and charming stories, Home is worth checking out.
art style is simple but beautiful, characters move with emotion, the rhythm combat gives a fresh twist, and enemy designs are unique and fun to fight ❤️
Final Fantasy meets Guitar Hero This is a classic JPG in the style of Final Fantasy but with a unique combat system in the style of Guitar Hero What I liked - animations - music - game design of battles - pixel art - humor What I didn't like - a large number of dialogues (this is such a genre, but I'm really tired of reading) - difficulty of battles, even the first mushroom is hard to kill, there is a mess as if I'm on the highest difficulty level - inability to pause the battle I would like more casual combat and the ability to skip dialogues and pause in combat
I'm currently doing a challenge to play through a free game in every single category on steam. I then give an honest review using ChatGPT.
Game: 152 / 447 Category: Rhythm Top-down pixel art game with a great look and some quirky, fun writing. It plays like a JRPG, but with rhythm-based combat—you block and attack by hitting notes in time with the music. It took a bit to get the timing down, but once it clicked, it became genuinely fun. The rhythm mechanics are satisfying, and the music fits the vibe perfectly. That said, I’d love to see WASD movement added or at least some keybinding/customization options. The options menu is pretty barebones right now, and a bit more flexibility would go a long way. Didn’t realize it was just a prologue at first, but the ending teaser definitely got me interested. I’ll be checking out the full release for sure. Solid foundation.
Insanely good pixel art. Very fun and goofy characters and dialogue. Even though I'm pretty bad at rhythm games I'm excited to see the full release
