GOTY.
This is my third time reviewing this game because every time I open it it's changed completely. Previous reviews included below. I noticed the icon for this had changed, so I opened it, and what do you know it's a completely different game again. No longer a multiplayer game at all, there's only single player. You run on the ice instead of skating, but the AI is functional and you can't run faster than them anymore. They aren't particularly skilled, but at the very least they try to move to separate areas of the ice instead of all puck-chasing. Aiming is a little weird because there's not a directional indicator on the player. It's still a very simple game without much replay value, but it is a functional game again, so I've changed my review back to positive. I feel like I at least got my 50 cents worth. ---- 2021 review Since the last time I launched this game, it's gone from 2D to 3D. The option to play with AI is gone for the moment, and there's no servers, so it's not really playable unless you've got friends who also want to play. (I don't, so I have no idea what state multiplayer is in) It's a game that's probably given me more than the 50 cents it cost in entertainment just to launch every few months and see how it's completely changed, but I can't really recommend it at present. ---- 2019 review This is a game where you really wish there was a neutral review option. It's a very cheap game, and it's priced accurately. The main focus is multiplayer, but no one's playing it, so unless you buy a few copies for friends, you're out of luck. Singleplayer now has the ability to play 5v5 matches vs AI, but even without allocating any skill points, you still skate faster than they do, and after you've allocated skill points, you can go double their speed or more, so it doesn't provide much challenge. Even when goalies are positioned correctly, shots will just push them backwards into the net. This game seems like it would be fun if you've got a few people willing to buy it, but if you're just getting it for yourself, steer clear.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥! not like true NHL
Great game,really fun to play
Jesus christ, the opponent can steal the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ puck right off your stick, but you can't. The goalies are useless and couldn't save a damned beach ball. The pace is slow, and getting an open opportunity to shoot is near in-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-possible. Take it from an actual hockey player of 11+ years, this game is garbage.
Talking as a top rated NHL prospect i find this game extremely realistic to the modern game of hockey i think the one thing that could be improved is the fighting mechanics this is easily better than the bogus "NHL" or "chel" franchise published by EA sports i rate it a firm 10/10 for the way it represents the game
It's basically slapshot: rebound, but much more simple and relaxing. I'd reccomend to anyone who'd wanna play nhl 24 without it being complicated.
The lack of any passing mechanic, the lack of any checking mechanic, and the lack of a goalie that can stop a shot off the faceoff from center ice show that no effort has been put into this game. If I had submitted this in my 9th grade coding class for a final project I would have gotten a C.
Very simple and fun, cute and pretty to look at and the developer took up my offer to add multiplayer and a leaderboard! I think that could really help this game out and add something else to the steam store. 10/10
