Hive Slayer

[h1]Experienced on the Oculus Quest 2[/h1] This is an okay 180 wave shooter. It has 3 modes, arcade, retro, & survival (endless). I think arcade was the best. Unfortunately, it does get old after 10-15 minutes. There just isn't enough variety. You have a few different enemy types, 1 environment, and a boss fight. Enemies come in waves, and you can shoot for powerups. You have a shield and a gun that you can change with the upgrades, such as rapid fire. The shield has panels which get destroyed with damage, so you'll see your shield get smaller and smaller with the more damage you block (so you have to find shoot shield upgrades as well). It's running on the Unity engine. It ran perfectly fine on my RTX 3080 on the Oculus Quest 2 with Oculus link cable. I didn't experience any bugs. If you have played your fill of wave shooters, you probably want to pass on this. This game brings nothing new to the genre and there are better examples of 180 wave shooters in VR. [b]Rate 6/10. It's free. It's competent. There just really isn't enough depth or content for it to be satisfying for past a few minutes of gameplay. [/b]

Juegazo de RV totalmente gratuito, Hive Slayer es un arcade frenético donde eres el último de los Hive Slayers, enfrentándote a la Horda Xeno con un guante matriz y un blaster. Hay diferentes modos de juego y power-ups como disparo rápido que dan caña. Gráficamente es simple y con algún bajón de FPS en SteamVR, pero su estilo retro y ritmo adictivo lo hacen un vicio. ¡A reventar bichos!

For a free game, it's alright! It's not the deepest game ever, but I do particularly like the retro mode. I wouldn't have paid for this game though, to be honest.

Not bad for a free game ... No option to turn down music

A short, simple and fun wave shooter (standing with a bit of optional leaning). Presentation is good, I think better in game than the screenshots give it credit for. Give it a look. Played on the original Vive, and worked well under Proton 5.13. Donated a couple of dollars and downloaded a (DRM free, I imagine) copy as a bonus.

This is a very simple game, but that's to be expected from something you can get for free. It's amusing, and a good way to enjoy some simple VR fun. It controls well, much better than some other VR shooters I've played, and has solid graphics especially at the (nonexistent) pricetag. Each game of Arcade mode takes around 8-10 minutes depending on your skill, and is overall just a bit of fun. Easy for a short VR session, and the lack of any movement means this is a great game for new VR players to get their feet wet without worrying so much about possible nausea issues. Also, the fact that you're basically standing in one place means that even small VR play areas work well for it; you definitely don't need a full room-scale area available. Overall, it's a fun, free experience and makes a great jumping-in point for beginners.
